Tiger Hunting
The White Sox took on the Detroit Tigers in their first meeting of the season at Comerica Park this afternoon. It was a slug fest between the two as the Sox came out on top 10-6.
Jermaine Dye and Paul Konerko hit back-to-back home runs in the second inning. They made history as each home run was the 300th of their respective careers. They became the first teammates ever to hit century milestone home runs of at least 300 in the same game. Carlos Quentin also hit a pair of homers (3,4) as well.
Gavin Floyd pitched five innings and got the win despite giving up six earned runs. In his first outing he pitched well enough to earn a victory, but lack of offense would cost him. Today, however, he wasn't as sharp. He issued seven walks while only striking out two, but he managed to keep his team in the game. The victory came with a price however.
Bad news for the Sox as Dewayne Wise, who made a diving catch while playing center field separated his shoulder. Wise will be out a minimum of six to eight weeks. Expect Jerry Owens to get the call up from Triple-A to replace the injured Wise.
The White Sox are now 4-3 and John Danks will take the bump tomorrow for the ChiSox and he will be opposed by Detroit's Rick Porcello. Tomorrow's game starts at 12:05 p.m. CT.
