Veteran Wideout Should Be Next

Bears GM Jerry Angelo shocked the football world yesterday by acquiring Denver Broncos Quarterback Jay Cutler--Pro Bowl QB Jay Cutler that is-- The Bears filled a huge need with this move and it begs the question, who made this deal and what have you done with the real Chicago Bears?

Angelo never makes deals of this magnitude. On top of that, they signed free agent offensive tackle Orlando Pace. Another smart move made by the Bears. Instead of wasting a draft pick on such an important position they went out and got a decent player in Pace.

What's even better is that Pace played under Lovie Smith during his time with the St. Louis Rams. They've filled two big needs in one afternoon. There were three big needs the Bears needed to address this off-season. They've got two out of the way with a QB and an OT, now they need to obtain a veteran wide receiver. Hello Torry Holt.

Holt was cut by the Rams last month and would be an excellent pick up for the Bears who are limited with their number of draft picks. While Holt isn't the same guy who was apart of the foursome known as "The Greatest Show on Turf" he can still go get the ball with the best of them.

Holt would bring a veteran Wideout presence, which is desperately needed if the Bears want to go deep into the playoffs, or dare I say Super Bowl. Although it has been said Chicago is where wide receivers go to die, but now that the Bears have someone who can pass the ball, that saying might be changing after this season.

The veteran presence that Holt can bring to the wide receiving core in Chicago would have huge upside. Devin Hester could learn a lot from a guy like Holt. The Bears front office is expecting big things from Hester as they groom him to be the future No. 1 Wideout. Obtaining Holt would be a step in the right direction. If Jerry Angelo is serious about winning, he'll go get Holt as well.

Maybe they can get a deal since Pace's agent is Holts as well. Pace should talk to Holt and bring him to the Chicago lakefront this season. Whatever happens, there is no doubt that football in the Windy City this season is going to be exciting.
