Will The Bulls Make The Playoffs?
In spite of Hollinger's Playoff Machine, the Bulls chances of getting into the second season took a big hit last night in Indianapolis courtesy of TJ Ford's game icing jumper with a scant 3.9 seconds left on the clock. Not only did the Bulls lose a heartbreaker, but the pesky Charlotte Bobcats had the gall to defeat the mighty Los Angeles Lakers, thus sweeping the season series from the Lake Show and making up a game on the Bulls in the standings.
For the Bulls the schedule is definitely in their favor with five of their remaining six games in front of the home crowd at the United Center. What makes this final stretch of the season a little more daunting is that four of the six teams Chicago is playing can improve their playoff position or merely solidify their chances by beating the Bulls. Yeah, that's right, it's gonna be a gang fight for the final seed. Detroit is underneath that street lamp swinging a chain; Philadelphia is leaning against that Plymouth Mercury with a switchblade; New Jersey is pretty sure it brought it's gun; and those tenacious Bobcats are here to do two things: chew bubble gum and kick ass; and they're fresh out of bubble gum.
Another factor that's really working for the Bulls is that Charlotte has an absolutely brutal stretch of games to close out the season. Starting tonight in Boston the Bobcats are on the road for six of their final eight and will be facing: @ Boston, Miami, @ Detroit, Philadelphia, @ Oklahoma City, @ Chicago, @ New Jersey and finally @ Orlando. So, yeah, good luck with that sked B-Cats. If y'all, make the playoffs, you earned it and the inevitable first-round (but-oh-so-entertaining) loss to the Cavaliers.
