Perfect Ten: Slaughter remain undefeated

After breaking the league's single game record for most passing touchdowns what would Chicago Slaughter Quarterback Russ Michna do for an encore? For starters would break four more records. Michna now holds the single season records for most TD's, completions and passing yards. He even broke his own record for most passing yards (303) in a game. He was 22-for-27 with 342 total yards and threw for 8 TD's.

With those records also comes a perfect 10-0 record as the Slaughter beat the Wisconsin Wolfpack 67-22.

After Slaughter Wideout Donovan Morgan went down with a shoulder injury it was obvious they needed to make a move.
And that is exactly what they did. They brought in former Chicago Rush Wideout and Kansas City Chief Bobby Sippio. He was instrumental in helping the Rush win the ArenaBowl Championship in 2006.

Sippio was happy to be reunited with his former Rush teammates. "It feels great. It feels like a homecoming," said Sippio. "I had a good time out there and I'm looking forward to better times."

While Michna was setting new records left and right Saturday night he admitted he could've been better. "Four out five throws that he [Sippio] caught were terrible throws," said Michna.

Sippio wasted no time making his presence known by scoring the first Slaughter touchdown. He would come close to breaking the record for most TD catches in a single game with six touchdown catches and had a 144-yards receiving.

His performance left his quarterback speechless after the game. "I can't say enough. I don't even know what to say about the guy," he said.

He made an immediate impact and if Morgan is available to play come playoff time the Slaughter will be with out a doubt the team to beat. Even without Sippio Michna believed this team was unbeatable.

"I didn't think there was any chance other teams could stop us even before he [Sippio] got here. The only way were going to have problems is if I keep under throwing to him," he said.
With their victory last week over the Rock River Raptors they locked up the number one seed in the 2009 CIFL Playoffs and tonight's win earned them home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The first around of the playoffs will begin Saturday June 20th at the Sears Centre. The Slaughters opponent is still TBA.

"This league is hard to play in on the road, the travel is tough," said Michna. "We had another nice crowd out there and I think home field is priceless."
