Cubs Sweep Rockies, Win 6-2
After trading Milton Bradley for Carlos Silva this offseason many thought Silva didn't stand a chance of lasting in the rotation based on his lackluster seasons in Seattle. However, you wouldn't know it by the way he has pitched this season. Silva was 4-0 going into Tuesday nights game against the Rockies.
When it was all said and done he would be 5-0. Silva pitched six innings and only allowing two runs on six hits. The two runs came on a home run by Todd Helton. The offense would back up their starter to the tune of six runs. The Cubs Ryan Theriot and Starlin Castro combined for four RBI.
They extend their winning streak to three, they match their longest streak of the season. The Cubs head to Philadelphia to take on the Phillies. They will miss Roy Halladay who pitched Tuesday night, however, they have deal with Jamie Moyer who at the age of 47 has mystified the Cubs during his career.
Although it was only a two-game series the Cubs took care of business and finished up their home stand at 4-4. While its not impressive it is better then having a sub .500 record. They'll spend five games on the road before coming home next Tuesday. If they can split against the Phils it'll be a success, but they have had trouble winning at Citizens Bank Park.
Tom Gorzelanny ( 1-4, 3.60) will take on the age less wonder Jamie Moyer (5-2, 4.57). Game time is 6:05 p.m. CT. The game can be seen on Comcast Sportsnet and heard on WGN Radio 720 AM.
