Short Hops: Short Hops Has Returned
Shorts Hops is Tailgate's entertaining, weekly link dump. It was on hiatus because the lazy new editor, Brian, completely forgot about Short Hops for the first three months of his tenure. He has been fired.
Ricketts Sends An Open Letter Re: ToyotaGate
Tailgate is pretty annoyed with the quasi-hullabaloo this damn Toyota sign is causing. Look, the Cubs are for-profit! The owner of the building whose ad will be partially obscured by the Toyota logo? A greedy monger trying to squeeze more blood from a rock. (Via Crain's Chicago Business)
Mr Ricketts gets the SI Treatment
Tom Ricketts is also, aside from penning letters, being featured in Sports Illustrated this week. The venerable mag has an in-depth look at Ricketts' spending and business habits in how he's translating those into running the Northsiders. Also to not be missed? the cover story on Ben Roethlisberger. Dirt. Bag. (Via: Cubs Fan Report)
Gale Sayers is Old. Probably Confused and Scared.
Bears legend, Gale Sayers, publicly remarked on what every Bears fan has know for years. This Bears squad isn't that good. Thanks, Gale. Additionally Sayers remarked that the Bears need more unicorns and that he's about ready for some tapioca and a nap. (Via: Yahoo! Sports)
Chicago Slaughter Have Talent
Irish jigs and defensive lineman aren't necessarily the first two things you think of when you hear "Blackhawks Playoff Game," but Chirs Pisani, the Chicago Slaugher's 6-4, 278 lb. defensive anchor was (Williennium Alert!) "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It!" at the United Center on Monday night. The 'Hawks, of course, went on to win and one can only assume Pisani's hulking frame (and mad skillz) intimidated the Canucks into submission. (Via: Cally Eckles and the Chicago Slaughter)
