White Sox Win One Series, Lose Another: Everyone Wants A Taste When You Have A Few Good Games

SoxLogoSmall.jpeg

There isn't much new to say about the last two series the Sox played. When pitching is good, hitting can be its usual inconsistent self and the Sox can still win. When hitting isn't good --or as good as the other team-- then the Sox need strong pitching. It's as simple as that. That's why the Sox were sweeped by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim by close margins in a two game series (2-3 and 5-6, respectively) and that's also why the Sox looked amazing against the Florida Marlins in the first two games winning 8-0 and then 4-1 but losing 13-0 when Freddy Garcia pitched in the third outing.

The good news is that everyone continues to improve. Carlos Quentin is finally connecting with the bat, A.J. Pierzynski's hitting is on the upswing, and Bobby Jenks has been playing like he used to.

In fact, Jenks has been playing so well that the Philadelphia Phillies are looking at him and J. J. Putz. I'm usually against most trades like this because I don't think Putz or Jenks will get the Sox anything worthwhile in return. On the other hand, trading Jenks might be a good idea regardless of the reciprocation. I still think Jenks hasn't returned to his old play, rather he's just having a couple of good games which is why the Sox should trade him. A good closer is anything but inconsistent.
