White Sox Lose To Kansas 7-2: Something Needs To Change But It Ain't Ozzie

Yesterday's win against the Kansas City Royals was White Sox manager Ozzie Guillien's 1,000th game managed. MLB's White Sox reporter Scott Merkin noted that he is the fourth manager of all baseball franchises to achieve this record. Last night was a win, tonight was a loss, which does sort of nag at the question, should Ozzie be allowed to manage more games?
I say yes. Without going into detail about tonight's loss or most White Sox losses in general, I believe that the failures of the Sox this year are not managerial. They are a result of severe slumps and bad playing. A manager can only do so much if the players just aren't playing well. And the White Sox aren't playing well right now.
I don't think the Ozzie's been doing a perfect job (I often pray to the baseball gods that Randy Williams will be banned from baseball forever, to no avail) but I do think he's done a damn good job and let's face it, it really could be much worse.
Tomorrow is the third and final game in this home series against Kansas City. It may be early in the season but if the Sox can't win a series against Kansas City, then the rest of the season (to draw on a joke of Ozzie's) really will seem to be a thousand games long.
