WCR All-Stars Edge Out Boston Massacre 121-115

It was a nail biter of a bout last Saturday, July 31, as the WCR All-Stars took on the Cincinnati Silent Lambs and Boston Massacre in an exciting double-header at the UIC Pavilion. The first game featured the Windy City Rollers' Second Wind team, who started out strong against Cincinnati and never let up. The first half closed with Windy City in the lead at 91-33, the Silent Lambs having gained some ground after Rose Feratu's smashing 14-point jam. After a whole lotta box time for both teams, the game ended in WCR's favor 184-96.

The second game of the evening saw an intense match between the WCR All-Stars and the Boston Massacre. Both teams are fairly evenly matched; although at first Boston had a difficult time scoring points, their strong defense gave the All-Stars a run for their money. Again, it was a game in which everyone spent time in the box, which led to some challenging situations for both teams' Jammers. By the last 10 minutes, the scores were uncomfortably close. Finally, WCR's Shocka Conduit took the last jam, and as lead Jammer she immediately called it off before Boston had a chance to score. The crowd went bananas over the WCR win 121-115.
