Chicago Outfit Admits Transgender Skater
The Chicago Outfit said in an interview with the Windy City Times on Wednesday that they have decided to create an official policy allowing transwomen to skate with the derby league. The decision came after skater Bethany Johnson, aka Meg Gyver, joined the Outfit as a member of the Outfit's B team, the Shade Brigade. Although Johnson didn't initially disclose that she was transgender, she eventually came out to the league. The policy requires trans skaters to have completed certain lengths of time of hormone therapy, but gender reassignment surgery is not necessary.
