McDonald's All-Americans Ready for Liftoff
Morgan Park star Wayne Blackshear won't play because of an increasingly worrisome shoulder injury, but Anthony Davis of Perspectives-MSA and Ariel Massengale of Bolingbrook are ready to go for tonight's McDonald's All-American Games at the United Center.
Look also for Morgan Jones, a wing forward from Florida who lived in Wicker Park briefly as a teenager. She'll be back in town this fall as Northwestern's prized recruit.
Austin Rivers, who alternates with Davis atop most national recruiting rankings, is another Floridian with Chicago ties. He is the son of former NBA all-star Doc Rivers, who was a McDonald's All-American in 1980 as a senior at Proviso East High School in Maywood.
Stub Hub has some tickets available, but you can also watch the games at home. The girls start at 6:30 CT on ESPNU; the boys tip off late, at 9, on ESPN.
Hey, even Michael Jordan is excited about it.
