Zambrano Masterful As Cubs Win in 10
On a cold, blustery Monday night at Wrigley Field, Carlos Zambrano dominated the San Diego Padres. On a night when offense was hard to come by, Zambrano did his best to limit the Padres hitters. Z pitched seven shutout innings, striking out 10. But would the Cubs get any runs?
In regulation, no; Zambrano settled for a no-decision. The Cubs offense went nine innings without an extra-base hit until Tyler Colvin gave Chicago a 1-0 win with an RBI double in the 10th.
The elements played a huge factor in last night's contest. On any normal day several fly-outs would've left the park for home runs. The Cubs struggled mightily to get anything going offensively. This could become problematic for them down the road, especially if the wind is blowing in like it was last night.
The victory gets the Cubs back to .500 at 8-8. They have yet to go on any kind of streak. It has been win one, lose one so far this season, largely because of the inconsistent offense. If they can find some consistency they should be all right.
