Hawks Fall in Overtime to Canucks

The Blackhawks fell 3-2 in overtime Tuesday night against the Vancouver Canucks, extending the team's losing streak to three in a row. The game had the feel of postseason hockey with game-changing saves by both goalies, a few unfortunate calls by officials and an intense overtime.

The Hawks' two points over the evening would have been a little easier to swallow had officials called Vancouver's Dan Hamuis' slash against Viktor Stalberg, who had a breakaway in overtime.

There were some familiar faces back on the ice for the Hawks. Patrick Sharp came back from missing eight games with what was believed to be a broken bone in his left wrist. Captain Jonathan Toews returned to the ice as well after his own wrist injury.

Sharp had three shots in 19:09 for his first game back. Toews finished the game with five shots in 19:10.

Hawks goaltender Corey Crawford helped the team stay in the game during the first period when the Canucks had 12 shots on goal to the Hawks' nine. The Hawks were able to turn it around coming back in the second and third period with more shots on goal than the Canucks had turning the game to overtime at 2-2.

Throughout the game, Crawford had 30 saves on 33 shots while Canucks goalie Cory Schneider had 35 saves on 37 shots by the Hawks.

Crawford's immaculate save in overtime against a shot by Daniel Sedin really kept the team in the game during overtime before Sedin was able to come back and shoot one past Crawford to end the game.

The Hawks are set to take on the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.
