Fury, Double Crossers Win In WCR Home Finale

wcr-logo.png The Ivy King Cup playoff picture came into focus Saturday as The Fury and the Double Crossers won in the Windy City Rollers home season finale.

The Fury, last year's Ivy King Cup winners, handed the Hell's Belles their only loss of the season Saturday, beating them 268-184.

Penalties on Fury jammer Ska Face allowed the Hell's Belles to jump out to a quick 30-0 lead. Belles jammer Killjoy scored five in the first jam after Ska Face went to the box for cutting the track. Though Ska Face was released from the box early in jam 2, she went right back, giving the Belles a power jam that resulted in 25 points from jammer Bloody Elle.

In the third jam, it looked like the Belles were going to pull even further away when jammer Fifi Nailya got lead jammer and made two quick scoring passes. But Fifi Nailya went to the penalty box and Ska Face scored 25 points for the Fury.

After three jams, the Belles' lead was down to 13, 38-25. The teams went back and forth for the rest of the half, with the Belles taking a 134-118 lead into the locker room.

The Fury started the second half strong and took the lead in jam 7, which started with Belles jammer Bloody Elle in the penalty box for a track cut. Ska Face put The Fury up 156-146.

From there, The Fury never gave back the lead and won 268-184. Both teams finished the season with 2-1 records.

The second bout of the night wasn't quite as close. The Double Crossers jumped out ahead of the Manic Attackers early and never looked back. They ended the first half with a 118-29 lead.

Though the Manics, last year's Ivy King Cup runners-up, started the second half strong, it wasn't enough and the Double Crossers won easily, 213-115.

The Double Crossers ended the season with a 2-1 record, while the Manic Attackers went without a regular season win in 2014.

The first round of the Ivy King Cup playoffs is April 12.
