Sweets & Snacks Expo
I went to the Sweets & Snacks Expo at McCormick Place West yesterday and boy oh boy, was I overwhelmed! Yes, I've been to expos before and yes, I'm always overwhelmed, but this was different. I love to eat and I hate to be rude and turn nice people away! Especially nice ones with food in hand. That's my problem. I suppose that having those issues does not a disciplined foodie make!
Well, whatever. I ate. And ate!
While stuffing my face, I did notice that a big push at this show was an international focus. Mexico and Turkey were the highlights. Fondant-stuffed licorice from Spain, jalapeno-flavored pork rinds from Mexico and falafel chips were among the multicultural offerings. I'm not a huge candy lover, cake is more my game, but I didn't sample anything I didn't like. Even the roasted seaweed from Korea.
