Too many. Here are my top choices.
Give Me It - The Cure
Wish - Nine Inch Nails
Dear God - XTC
I'm Going Straight to Heaven - MC 900 Ft. Jesus
And Mother by The Police is an amusing, if not Oedipal, suggestion.
Lipstick - Buzzcocks
i love to hate -- screeching weasel
a prayer to god -- shellac
hate the police -- dicks
fuck the police -- nwa
Ugly Kid Joe's "I Hate Everything About You."
...Just kidding.
I'd say "wish," by Nine Inch Nails, off broken, and to continue my Violent Femmes theme, "Flamingo Baby" off Why Do Birds Sing.
Shellac - "Prayer To God". Hench (above) is on the money with that one.
Also, the entirety of Refused's "The Shape of Punk to Come".
Some favorites, off the top of my head...
'the Curse of Millhaven' by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
'the Desperate Thngs You Made Me Do' by the Magnetic Fields
'Disintegration' by the Cure
'Buzzbomb' by the Dead Kennedys and 'Mate Spawn and Die' by Lard
Hard to go wrong with Skinny Puppy or Swans for anger and hate, but dang if I can't boil them down to one track...
No Action - Elvis Costello
No Children - the Mountain Goats
Going to Marrakesh - the Extra Glenns
Untouchable Face - Ani DiFranco
Suck My Left One - Bikini Kill
How Do You Sleep? - John Lennon
You Oughta Know - Alanis...more pissed off than hate, but it's what goes in the CD player when I'm hating.
What's that Eamon song that starts out all sweet then turns in to '#$@( this and ^@%#% that and ^#%#$ everything'? That's the one I like.
1996 - Marilyn Manson
"Hate Song" by the Posies (obvious, but appropriate) and I'll second John Lennon's "How Do You Sleep". And for pure, uncut hatred, Elvis Costello's ode to Thatcher, "Tramp the Dirt Down" is perfect.
Hate - by the Delgados
"I Hate Myself for Loving You," Joan Jett. Splits the difference.
Michael Rowed the Boat A Shore is definitely the worst Hate Song Ever!
"Under the God" - Tin Machine
Hate Your Friends -- the Lemonheads
"Love to Hate You" by Erasure
"Song for the Dumped" by Ben Folds 5
Anything by A.C.
"Bodies" by the Sex Pistols.
"Big Payback" by James Brown
"i never wanna fucking see you again" - rich hardesty
Not a Friend - Sebadoh
I Hope You're Happy Now - Elvis C.
Object - The Cure
"The Floor" Poster Children
not to be wholly unoriginal, but I second/third/fourth/whatever "wish."
"Hate" - Cinerama
"(Fuck You) An Ode to No One" - Smashing Pumpkins
"Jism" - Tindersticks
I second Marilyn Manson's "1996", but also add "Love Song."
"Positively Fourth Street" by Bob Dylan.
"Caught Out There" by Kelis. Screaming along with her is sometimes theraputic.
"No Children" by the Mountain Goats. "I hope you die. I hope we both die." Brilliant.
Love and hate are so closely related. That's what I think is so great about Bob Dylan's Idiot Wind.
Suing God - Therapy?
ATC Around The World. For me the loving isn't remaining. I have making very much hate for this song in the every time discoteques now.
"you suck" - murmurs
Step Back - Henry Rollins Band
The 80s were good years for hate songs:
Salt in My Tears - Martin Briley
If I Had A Rocket Launcher - Bruce Cockburn
Burning House of Love - X
Answering Machine - The Replacements
Untouchable Face -- Ani Difranco
"Fuck You, You Ho. I Don't Want You Back," by Eamon.
"Sorrow Evoker" by Witchcraft.
or
"The Kiss" by The Cure.
I agree: "Caught Out There," by Kelis is my favorite hate song. She chants--"I HATE..YOU-SO-MUCH-RIGHT-NOW; I HATE...YOU-SO-MUCH-RIGHT-NOW...AHHHHH!" Would also offer Blu Cantrell's "Hit em up Style," and--going old school now--Bobby Womack's "I'm Going to Forget About You." That song has the line: "I don't know what you gone do/You tired of me and I'm SOOOO TIRED OF YOOOOUUUU."
The funniest hate song I've ever heard is "In Love" off of Ben Folds' Fear of Pop side project, featuring vocals by William Shatner. Folds' break-up songs tend to have an undercurrent of still being "in love", but not this one. Shatner delivers the money line with a shift from angry to icy that has to be heard to be appreciated:
"...and I CAN'T COMMIT! YOU'RE RIGHT! I CAN'T COMMIT... to you."
Almost anything by Left for Dead: "Why don't I cut off your head and we'll call that negative reinforcement, if that's the way you treat an animal you deserve even worse."
Or Born Against.
I'll second the Dicks "Hate the Police" but add "I Hope you Get Drafted".
Killing In The Name Of - Rage Against The Machine
(Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!!)
CANIBAL CORPSE - Fucked With A Knife
i've come to wish you an unhappy birthday
i've come to wish you an unhappy birthday
cos you're evil and you lie
and if you should die
i may feel slightly sad
but i won't cry
oh, those smiths
i have to second 'positively fourth street'.
i second prayer to god - shellac
take this job and shove it, the dead kennedys version
and about 15 nin songs
i made a hate tape once, it included:
Unhappy Birthday - The Smiths
with a nice cap of
For Doz That Slept - Black Sheep
The song sung by Adam Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" is quite funny and certainly hatefull
Anything by The Birthday Party, but Six-Inch Gold Blade in particular (especially the live version).
"peacemaker" naked raygun
"6'1"" liz phair
I'd think of more, but I'm in a pretty good mood today.
"Brassneck" by The Wedding Present
Just about any (classic) Misfits song, especially Hate Breeders, Die Die Die My Darling, Skulls, Bloodfeast, Wolfsblood, Devilock, Mommy Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight?, We Bite, etc.
I Hate Almost Every Person I Come Into Contact With - Curlupanddie
My Heart Bleeds The Darkest Blood - Shai Hulud
Jeez, no mention of Ryan Adams? "Come Pick Me Up" is the hateyest of the hateyest songs ever, along with "Living in Paradise" by Elvis Costello
Sex Pistols--No Feelings
(I look around your house, you've got nothing to steal/I kick you in the brains when you get down and kneel and pray/ You pray to your GOD?!?),
plus I second Bodies
The Smiths--Frankly Mr. Shankly
(Frankly Mr. Shankly, since you asked/you are a flatulent pain in the ass)
Shiny Happy People - REM
That song makes me feel pure rage at the world.
ooooh, nobody sings hatred like Elvis Costello. You could make a great mix tape of just Elvis Costello hate songs. My personal favorite is "All the Rage," though his voice isn't as venomous there as it is on some others.
tool aenima
william shatner & pulp really crush it though with common people
ADD IT UP by the violent femmes, and "don't think twice, it's alright" by the inimitable bob dylan. and, i echo the talk of elvis costello's hate voice. num.
Another pair from Elvis Costello: "Who Do You Think You Are?" and "Swine" off The Juliette Letters (with the Brodsky Quartet).
Agreed on "Who Do You Think You Are?" -- TJL is a great album. More Elvis: "13 Steps Lead Down," "Shabby Doll," and "What's Her Name Today?"
Local Girls -- Graham Parker
And let me also aggree that Elvis C. does angry very well
I've always thought that the seething anger of Roger Daltrey's voice, the rumbling of Keith Moon's ADD drumming and of course, Pete Townsend's bloody knuckles against his guitar strings in The Who's "I Can See For Miles" encapsulate pure hatred better than most anything.
EXCEPT FOR:
(And you're going to laugh if you know anything about this guy but:)
REV. Norb - Touch Me I'm Weird (Bulge)
I'm serious. Coming from a guy who's always been pretty much a closed book as far as emotions are concerned, this record is basically an unbridled attack on the woman (OK, girl) who broke his heart (save for the odd dance step song here and there). My fave is the third song called "Now You Cry" which, on the copy that was given to this particular ex-girlfriend, had most of the lyrics blacked out with a Sharpie.
Yeah, I know the guy but that only proves to make this record that much more dramatic.
That's sweet, Erik, but the best hate song ever is "Woman" by the Anti-Nowhere League, which just goes to show you how much extra hate you get if they don't dump you first.
"i don't wanna walk around with you" - the ramones
or
"you think you're man" -the vaselines
"Liar" by Sex Pistols
"Not a Pretty Girl" by Ani DiFranco
"Oh Bondage, Up Yours" by X-Ray Spex
"Rip Her to Shreds" by Blondie
"Bigmouth Strikes Again" by The Smiths
"Republican Love" by me
Dictionary - XTC
Shitlist - L7
Fuck You and Your Cat - Goldfinger
the poisoned well by quasi.
I like "Tyrone" by Erykah Badu. It's low-key, but I'd love to be able to tell somebody off like she does to that guy. "I wanted you to massage my toes/but you want to play dominoes/I don't care but you gots to leave/You can tell them you broke up with me"
"Kiss Off" - Violent Femmes
"Song for the Dumped" - Ben Folds Five
"Kill The Poor" Dead Kennedys
"This Love" Pantera
Too many Morrissey songs to mention!
I hate everything about you-three days grace
when you're around-motion city soundtrack

what about nirvana rape me and polly

Definitly Right Now by KoRn.
"Hate You" - The Daredevils. Fantastic hate song.
"Just For" - Nickleback
"Stand Up" - Trapt
"With or Without You" - Dope
"Mr. Self Destruct" - Nine Inch Nails
And let me full-heartedly second "The Kiss" by The Cure. If you need a song about hate, that's your song.

Anything by Dethklok
Needle in the Hay- Elliot Smith
Stapled to the Mattress- Scarling
Bullet With Butterfly Wings- Smashing Pumpkins
Bang!- Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Not so much hate, but more of a 'fuck you' song.)
That Is Why by Say Anything. The actual music itself isn't hateful, but more the lyrics. Describing all the things the singer doesn't like about the girl and finishing off with "And that is why you'll never ever, in a goddamn millenium, be my girl"
Skinny Mean Man by Say Anything. Just an angry song, kind of about a guy hurting a girl he likes "I saw, I smelled what he did to you girl, and to be frank the thought makes my innards curl"
No Soul by, right, Say Anything - "Theres something in the way you people smell, like you've got no soul at all"
You're The Wanker If Anyone is by Say Anything "With you out of my life skies are blue and love is real and true. You fugly bride, whoever thought shit could shine like that?"
And the kind of ultimate anti-conformism song, Admit It!!! by Say Anything. The whole song is really a hate speech with music playing.
And, well, I Hope You Die by Bloodhound Gang. Lists all the things the singer hopes happens to his worst enemy then every chorus is "I hope this helps to emphasise, I hope this helps to clarify, I hope you die."
