I always wanted to give my mom an Afghan Hound, because she thought they were really elegant, gorgeous dogs.

I'd like to give my family the gift of sanity around the holidays. Oh wait, they're acting sane is actually a gift for me.

Charles / December 20, 2010 1:45 PM

It would be nice to buy my mom a plane given her new found interest in flying. Can I afford a plane?...No. Maybe a remote control plane will suffice.

I'd love to give my parents a trip to Ireland. I think my Irish mother would love it, and my father, whose only trip abroad was to Vietnam back in 1964-65, would get a chance to see another part of the world.

I'd also like to give my wife a mortgage, but we're about 2-4 years from saving enough for a down payment.

Nuke LaLoosh / December 21, 2010 11:17 AM

I'd also love to give my younger brother a little peace of mind. His home life is a bit chaotic these days.

Is there a gift anyone here can recommend that can help bring about peacefulness of mind? I'm serious -- a Snuggie (tm)? A particular music CD? Valerian root tea? I'm taking suggestions.

I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony.

Can I give the Cubs a "get out of oversize contracts free" card? If they could clear Fukudome, Zambrano, Soriano, and Ramirez from the books, I'd like to see what kind of team they could put together instead.

Also, I'd like to get my friend White Sox season tickets. Hopefully he would take me to the games and we can watch Donkey hit bombs over the right fielder's head all day long.

The Duck of Death / December 21, 2010 3:35 PM

I'd like to give my cinephile brother a Blue Ray player with copies of his favorite "tough guy" movies. Here are some of his favorites; I don't know if all of these are out on Blue Ray or not.

Unforgiven
Three Kings
The Godfather (1 &2)
Goodfellas
The Wild Bunch
Seven Samurai
Repo Man
Jackie Brown
Raiders of the Lost Ark

To make it an even 10, maybe I'll get him tickets to see the new adaptation of "True Grit."

I would like to give everyone in my family a party brownie and force them to eat it on Christmas day so that we could have some fun for once.

vise77 / December 21, 2010 9:12 PM

That's funny, Annie, because my siblings just called to make sure I was bringing my party brownies back home, as I tend to do every year. My family's great now that we all do this together. I would love to give my mom one, though. That's the dream gift. We'd just all listen to The Beatles or something.

I'd love to take the whole family to Scotland. I'd fly everybody first class (I've done the trip 3 times in coach, and I can't tell you how much I'd love to be able to afford seats that flattened out into beds).

I think they'd really enjoy it. Scotland is really, really pretty.
