Dave knows better, but from the Intelligentsia on Broadway, you can pick up a good signal for Wired Findanglebob. Not too hard to "hack" or "chop" if you know what I mean.
There's free WiFi at this cafe on Foster across from the really good Middle Eastern bakery. They have crepes.
Hey I know the one. I gotta go all the way up there to buy tea.
They have free WiFi at Westgate Coffee on Madison, west of Halsted. A very cozy, friendly, independent shop.
Argo Tea at 958 Armitage.
In Evanston - Cafe Mozart, Panera, Prairie Moon is wifi-ed too, for a price, but the bartender's have cards they'll give out for $10 credits. Somebody told me the spread reaches Nevin's, but I'll have to test that.
There are free hot spots in my pants, I can tell you that.
Yes, yes, I had to do that. The question begged me to. In my defense, I did have a legit post before this.
(Naz, channeling Nelly:)
"It's a hot spot in herre, so turn on all yo' laptops."
(That chick from the video:)
"Yes it's a hot spot in herre, so I will turn on my laptop."
Etc., etc., etc.
Oh good grief.
What are these "computers" that you speak of?
You ain't whistling Dixie, Lacey. Oh good grief is right!
The free wifi spot on Fostor is called "Cafe DaDa" - a Romanian-run pizza and crepe place. They give AA points for purchases, too. Very nice people :)
Did Gapers' just jump the shark courtesy of Andrew's Nelly cover?
I think Andrew needs to get his CD player fixed in his car before I no longer recognize him. Nelly?
I gleaned the two Nelly lyrics I know (the two I parodied) from watching MTV.
I've been riding the 151 up and down along Sheridan in the Lincoln Park area and there are *many* unsecure WiFi waves available. I just sat on a bench outside the arboretum (sp?) north of the zoo and had high DSL speed connection.
Lovely on a cool fall semi-cloudy day! (ya know... being able to see the screen?)
I am collecting wifi data and would like to share it, but I haven't found a site to put it so I just threw it up on a page of my own for now.

I am using netstumbler and stumverter and ms mappoint.
Eric
hey guys-
If you're looking for free wi-fi data, we've got a ton. Our company, Nebo Group, started collecting this data a while back for a few different cities we work in. It's pretty cool.
Check it out and let me know what you think.
I thought the URL would've shown up, but it didn't. We're in the process of revamping the sites to all look like BayAreaFreeFi.com.
The free wi-fi listings are at:
Hey Eric-
If you're interested in a great place which houses only FREE wi-fi listings, check out ChicagoFreeFi.com.
Take care,
Scott
