Facets Night School: The Curse of Frankenstein

Facets Cinematheque continues its Night School screenings in October with screenings of classic horror films Tonight's film is the 1957 Hammer Films classic The Curse of Frankenstein and includes a pre-screening lecture and Q&A session after the film. Everything Is Terrible! @ Music Box

The mad geniuses behind Everything Is Terrible! return to Chicago with a screening of their recent DVD release Everything Is Terrible!: The Movie. Included in the screening are some bonus features, special guests, and a full-length feature from their archives. Haymarket Riot @ the Empty Bottle

Screw those pop band pansies, Haymarket Riot is ready to cause a riot at their Empty Bottle show tonight. One of Chicago's staple post-punk bands, they've been breaking the pop punk mold that the current generation has set with loud and fast music. Supporting the band is a slew of rockers, including System and Station, We Make Thunder, and Miss California. Show starts at 9:30pm and is 21+. Tickets are $5 in advance, $8 at the door.

Front 312: 1 Year Anniversary Dance Party @ Liar's Club

For its one year anniversary tonight, Front 312 will take a turn toward techno and house, with DJ Gant Man headlining. KHA and Mikul Wing of Members Only AV will be play separate solo sets as well, throwing down anything from classic italo tracks to extended versions of 80's new wave dance classics. Black Automatic will be playing classic Razormaid tracks, 80's new wave, classic industrial, acid house, punk rock, and newer electro tracks. Doors open at 9pm. Cabrini Connections Martini Madness Fundraiser

Cabrini Connections, a tutor and mentoring program, is hosting its 4th annual Martini Madness fundraiser tonight at The Store (2002 N. Halsted) from 6:30pm-9:30pm. The $40 ticket fee includes an open martini bar, soda, and appetizers. Purchase tickets online here, or call (312) 492-9614.

Yuganaut with Film & Video @ the Velvet Lounge

This performance event, part of the Chicago Calling Arts Festival, features the Brooklyn-based experimental jazz trio Yuganaut performing while video artist Selina Trepp mixes video in real time. Videos by Jayve Montgomery, Mikey Peterson, and other Chicago-based filmmakers and video artists will be projected. 9:30-11:30pm. Admission is $15. Velvet Lounge, 67 E. Cermak. Tony Peraica @ UIC

Join former State's Attorney candidate and Cook County Commissioner Tony Peraica for his lecture, "Reform of Cook County Government," today from noon-1pm at UIC's Behavioral Science Building (1007 West Harrison Street), Room 140. Former Alderman and UIC Political Science Professor Dick Simpson will moderate. Lecture is part of UIC's "Future of Chicago" series. Free and open to the public.

Riot Fest: Naked Raygun @ Metro

Riot Fest reunited Naked Raygun back in 2007, and now they're at it again in 2009. Check out our interview with these Chicago-based punk legends here. Naked Raygun will be gracing the Metro stage on Day 3 of Riot Fest, with this all ages show. Rights of the Accused, No Empathy, and Wax open. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased here, although there are other ticketing options available if you're planning on attending more than one night of Riot Fest. Nano-Punk Party @ Reggie's Music Joint

This is a collection of some of the loudest, weirdest, most entertaining and energetic bands in the Chicagoland area. Their music spans across the Electro/Garage/Punk/Thrash/Ghetto-tech arenas. Go if you want to dance and let loose. Don't go if you don't want to get pummeled by sweaty punk rock dudes.
