Reading Under the Influence partners with reading series 2nd Story for a mix of performances, readings, and trivia. Promoting 2nd Story's new print anthology Briefly Knocked Unconscious by a Low-Flying Duck will be contributors Julie Ganey and Matt Miller. Rounding out the lineup will be Adam McOmber author of The White Forest and Chris Terry.

Xavier Rudd, a talented Australian musician and conscientious individual, will play tonight at the House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn St. Yeshe, a world citizen and musician, will also perform as the opener. The show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $25 in advance, and $27 at the door. 17+.
Electronic musician Dan Deacon will perform tonight at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave. Height with Friends, Chester Endersby Gwazda and Alan Resnick will also play as the supporting acts. The show starts at 9pm. Tickets are $15, 18+.
The Jamaican ska and reggae group Toots and the Maytals will play an acoustic show in Evanston at SPACE, 1245 Chicago Ave., tonight. Anders Osboune, a singer/songwriter and instrumentalist, will also perform as the special guest. Tickets range from $37-77. A charitable donation of $1 is included in each ticket to benefit the Toots Foundation. The show starts at 10pm.
