Black Creativity Family Day @ Museum of Science and Industry

The Museum of Science and Industry (5700 S. Lake Shore Dr.) commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day with Black Creativity Family Day. The annual celebration explores the legacy, contributions and achievements made by African Americans while engaging children with science and technology. This year's programming focuses on inspiring today's youth to become innovators of tomorrow. The event runs from 10am to 2pm today and is free with museum entry (Museum admission is free for Illinois residents today).

Martin Luther King Day Celebration @ DuSable Museum

The DuSable Museum, 740 E. 56th Pl., hosts a Martin Luther King Day celebration today from 10am to 6pm. The theme for this year's celebration is "Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community," after the title of Dr. King's final manuscript. Among the festivities will be readings, a spoken word battle, live media shows and a reenactment. Admission is $10.

The Dinner Party @ City Winery

The Dinner Party returns to City Winery, 1200 W. Randolph St., tonight with guests Chef Joho of Everest, Sun Times film critic Richard Roeper, Tributosaurus lead singer and Wire club owner Chris Nevile, and rapper DESSA. Members of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra open the show, and Chef Joho will cook roasted sturgeon with speck and escargot risotto for both the guests and audience. Tickets are $40 and include food. Doors open at 6:30pm, show's at 7pm.

Performance Anxiety Chicago @ The Pleasure Chest

Do you love to laugh? Do you also love discounts on sex toys? Then Performance Anxiety Chicago is for you! This comedy showcase is a sex-positive, LGBT friendly stand-up show at the Pleasure Chest, 3436 N. Lincoln Ave. The show is FREE, and a $5 suggested donation goes to the performers.
