Soup and Bread @ The Hideout
Volunteer chefs serve up soup tonight from 5:30-8pm at the Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia) at this weekly benefit for food pantries/hunger relief organizations in the area (a different one is selected each week). Show up, eat, and donate what you can. Free.
Food, Farms and Democracy @ The CivicLab
Come learn about the U.S. food-and-farm system and reclaiming political power at The CivicLab's Food, Farms and Democracy: Making the 2014 Elections Relevant. This class runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Chicago CivicLab (114 N. Aberdeen St.). Class tickets are $20.
Bell's Brewery Beer Event @ Plum Market
This event aims to salute a pioneer craft brewery, Bell's Brewery from southwest Michigan. Hosted by the WineBar at Plum Market, 1233 North Wells Street, festivities begin tonight at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $10 for guests 21+. The event will provide a survey of the brewery's popular ales, lagers and seasonal offerings. The extremely limited Hopslam will also be on tap.
RedEye's Best Bartender @ Attic
Chicago's Top 4 bartenders will be competing to be named Chicago's Best Bartender tonight at Attic, the second floor of American Junkie, 15 West Illinois Street, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and includes four drink samples from the contestants and light appetizers.
Winter's Hard Eat Your Pancakes @ Sauce and Bread Kitchen
The Stew Supper Club's monthly dining event is tonight at Sauce and Bread Kitchen, 6388-40 North Clark Street. This month's dinner will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature pancakes of all origins. Tickets are $45.
The Yale Club of Chicago @ Jazz Showcase
The Yale Club of Chicago will be performing Gershwin in Blue: A George and Ira Gershwin songbook celebration tonight at Jazz Showcase, 806 South Plymouth Court. Tickets are $20 in advance and $20 at the door.
Porchlight's Golden Boy @ Stage 773
Porchlight Musical Theatre will present a production in their "Lost Musicals" series at 8pm tonight only. Clifford Odets' classic play, Golden Boy, will be presented as a staged musical in concert, directed by Chuck Smith. Music is by Charles Strouse. Golden Boy is about a man who turns to prizefighting to escape his ghetto roots. The show will be performed on the same stage where Porchlight's Ain't Misbehavin' is performed on other nights at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont. Tickets are $25 and are on sale now online and at the Stage 773 box office, 773-327-5252.
