Shakespeare Performance @ Logan Square Library

In honor of William Shakespeare's 450th Birthday the Chicago Public Library will host a free performance of some of his works at the Logan Square branch. Actor Mark J. Shallow will perform some of Shakespeare's soliloquies and audience members can volunteer to participate in the scenes silently with him. The event begins at at 6 p.m. and the library is located at 3030 W. Fullerton Ave..

Black Flag @ Reggies

Black Flag is touring again, but with Greg Ginn the only original member. They're at Reggies, 2105 S. State St., tonight for two shows. The first, at 6pm, is a free kids show, with the band doing stripped down, kid-friendly versions of their classics. Then there's a 17+ show with Hor and Cinema Cinema opening. Doors are at 7pm and tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.

Story Club @ Co-Prosperity Sphere

The South Side chapter of Story Club tonight at Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219 S. Morgan St., features Jill Howe, James "G.P.A." Gordon, Xavier Jordan and Jennifer Peepas, plus a couple open mic slots. Will Hindmarch hosts. Open mic signup starts at 7:30pm, and readings start at 8pm. Free, but donations appreciated. All ages.

Write Club @ Hideout

The Hideout presents the monthly meeting of Write Club, the literary competition featuring local authors and performers taking up opposing viewpoints for the pleasure of the audience. Write Club starts at 7:00pm tonight; admission is $10, and proceeds will go to the charities chosen by the participants. Hideout: 1354 W. Wabansia. (773) 227-4433.

Theater Oobleck @ Hideout

Every Tuesday in June, Theater Oobleck presents an evening of performance and music at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. Tonight's program is "The Jewboy Cain Interview", a special presentation of a fictional syndicated talk show devoted to the fictional American singer Jewboy Cain. The program begins tonight at 9pm, and admission is a suggested $5 at the door.
