Lakeview East Festival of the Arts

The Lakeview East neighborhood celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Lakeview East Festival of the Arts this weekend on Broadway between Belmont and Hawthorne. Hours are 10am to 6pm today with live music, food and drink tents open until 10pm, and 10am to 5pm tomorrow. Read our preview of the festival in A/C.

Riot Fest

Humboldt Park's beloved music festival, Riot Fest, is back. Saturday's lineup includes The National, The Flaming Lips and Wu-Tang Clan, to name just a few acts. Tickets are available at varying prices. Gates open at 11am today.

World Music Festival

The World Music Festival runs Sept. 11-21 in a variety of locations around town; see the full schedule for details. All festival events are free.

Front & Center Exhibit and BBQ @ The Hyde Park Art Center

The Center Program is presenting the work of its 2014 students at the Hyde Park Art Center, September 13th from 5-8 PM. During this exhibition, the art center will also be celebrating it's 75th Anniversary BBQ from 12-9 PM which will include bouncy houses, a petting zoo, food trucks and three bands/DJ's playing throughout the day. Crazy Horse's Girlfriend Release Party

Author Erika Wurth celebrates the release of her latest book, Crazy Horse's Girlfriend with a reading tonight at City Lit Books, 2523 N. Kedzie, at 5pm. Also reading are fellow authors Lindsay Hunter, Samantha Irby, and Jac Jemc. Read our preview in Book Club.

Maceo Parker @ Promontory

Jazz saxophonist Maceo Parker plays two shows tonight at the Promontory, 5311 S. Lake Park Ave., at 7pm and 10pm. Tickets are $20-60.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! @ Davenport's

Jenifer French & Friends present a new cabaret show called "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!," a tribute to award-winning songwriters Richard M. & Robert B. Sherman, tonight at 8pm at Davenport's Piano Bar, 1383 N. Milwaukee Ave. The Sherman brothers composed scores for Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and many Broadway plays and musicals. Tickets are $15, plus two drink minimum. 21+

Gogo Show @ Greenhouse Theater Center

The Gogo Show, a late-night variety show with standup, improv, sketch, storytelling and solo pieces, all featuring and produced by women, opens tonight with an 11pm show at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. Tickets are $15 at door, online or by phone. More info and links here.
