Berghoff Oktoberfest @ Federal Plaza

The Berghoff hosts its annual Oktoberfest celebration Sept. 10-12 in Federal Plaza, 50 W. Adams St., from 11am to 9pm each day. Enjoy beer, brats and live music. Admission is free.

Riot Fest

Humboldt Park's beloved music festival, Riot Fest, is back. Friday's lineup includes Jane's Addiction, Rise Against and Slayer, to name just a few acts. Tickets are available at varying prices. Gates open at 2pm.

Boycott! Opening Reception & Discussion @ Uri-Eichen Gallery

Uri-Eichen Gallery, 2101 S. Halsted St., hosts a panel discussion of boycotts and activist art tonight at 8pm as part of the opening reception for BOYCOTT! The Art of Economic Activism, an exhibition of signs and artwork related to political activism campaigns. Moderated by Bob Bruno, director of the Labor Studies Program at the University of Illinois, the panel will include Emily Twarog, assistant professor of history and labor studies at UIUC, and Anne Carlson, a teacher and CTU delegate. After the panel, there will be a screening of a work-in-progress documentary by Kartemquin Films on the 1963 CPS boycott. The opening reception runs 6pm to 10pm. Admission is free.

Katharine Schutta Opening Reception @ Dreambox Gallery

The conceptual collage artist, Katharine Schutta, has an opening reception at Dreambox Gallery located at 2415 W. North Ave, on Friday September 12th from 6-10 PM. Her work will be up in the gallery until September 27th. The gallery's regular hours are Saturday from 1-5 PM or by appointment. World Music Festival

The World Music Festival runs Sept. 11-21 in a variety of locations around town; see the full schedule for details. One special event worth noting: the Chicago Cultural Center will hold a 24-hour open house tonight as it hosts Ragamala: A Celebration of Indian Classical Music, from 9pm to 9am. All festival events are free.

Chicago Arts District 2nd Friday

The September edition of 2nd Fridays Gallery Night in Pilsen will feature work by multi-disciplinary artists in 30-plus galleries and creative spaces in the Chicago Arts District. You'll find all manner of art and artists, as well as explore the gorgeous architecture and courtyards on Halsted Street between 16th and Cermak. Plan your stroll by picking up a map at the info center at 1821 S. Halsted St., or check out the event calendar. 6pm-10pm.

Tribute to Larry Santoro @ The Coffee Shop

Friends memorialize writer Larry Santoro, who passed away last month, with a reading tonight at the Coffee Shop, 1135 W. Sheridan Ave., from 6 to 10pm. Chris Bell, Mike Penkas, John Everson, Rich Chwedyk, Sally Duros, Tycelia Santoro, Gary Houston, Richard Engling, Martin Mundt and Deb Miller will read selections of Santoro's work. No cover, BYOB. Jason Soliday Opening Reception @ Mana Contemporary

The Propeller Fund Pilot Program Fellow Radius is exhibiting their first public exhibition at Mana Contemporary located at 2233 S. Throop St in Pilsen. Jason Soliday will be presenting his work, "Infinite Radius" which will be on view until September 30th. The opening reception is on September 12th from 7-9 PM.


Lions, Tigers and Brews @ Lincoln Park Zoo

Over 150 craft brewers will be pouring the sauce tonight at Lions, Tigers and Brews at Lincoln Park Zoo (2001 N. Clark) from 7-11pm (VIP entry at 6pm). Entertainment, zoo explorations, and food from Tamale Spaceship and Pierogi Wagon (among others) will be on hand. Tickets $49-89.

The Interview Show @ Abbey Pub

The Interview Show moves over to the Abbey Pub, 3420 W. Grace St., for an extra big show this month. Host Mark Bazer's guests tonight include Jeff and Spencer Tweedy, filmmaker Kevin James and comedian Natalie Jose. Tickets are $15. Doors open at 7pm. 21+
