Ravenswood ArtWalk & Detour

The 13th annual Ravenswood ArtWalk Tour of Arts & Industry runs Oct. 3-5 along the Ravenswood corridor between Irving Park Road and Lawrence Avenue. From 11am to 7pm today, view art in galleries and artist studios as well as local businesses. From noon to 9pm, Ravenswood Detour adds a street festival atmosphere to the mix, with live music, craft beer and spirits, and a food truck corral at Ravenswood and Berteau. $5 suggested donation.

American Ballet Theatre @ Auditorium

The American Ballet Theatre performs Oct. 3-5 at the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Pkwy. There are two performances today, at 2pm and 7:30pm. Tickets are $34-129. Buy an adult ticket to the matinee and bring a kid under 12 free.

7th Annual Spudnik Press Benefit

Spudnik Press, 1821 W. Hubbard St, Suite 302, has been providing artists with studio resources, book publishing, public exhibitions and residency programs for seven years now. Through tonight's benefit, Spudnik Press hopes to raise $10,000 to support the 2,500 visitors who have come to the cooperative. Starting at 5pm, a silent auction will feature studio sketches, visual brainstorms, artist proofs, draft, studies, notes and ephemera. General admission ($15) includes one complimentary drink and popcorn.


Robot Apocalypse: Journey to the End of the Night

Story Luck presents Robot Apocalypse: Journey to the End of the Night, a free street game that brings together elements of tag, capture the flag and LARPing, tonight at 7pm beginning on Northerly Island, 1400 S. Lynn White Dr. near the Adler Planetarium.

Great Chicago Fire Festival

The City of Chicago, Chicago Park District and Redmoon present The Great Chicago Fire Festival, a spectacle honoring "Chicago's grit, greatness and renewal following the fire of 1871," tonight beginning at 8pm on the Chicago River. Watch as fiery cauldrons drop from the bridges, kayakers pull flaming buoys, and floating sculptures of pre-1871 homes go up in flames. The finale will be a fireworks display and tribute to the city's neighborhoods. Free.

Via Festival

The Via Festival runs Oct. 1-4 in various locations in Chicago, most of them secret. Tonight's secret show features Mykki Blanco, Princess Nokia, Darren Keen, Starfoxx, Jimmy Whispers, Jeremiah Meece and special guests, and gets started at 8pm; ticket holders find out the locale day-of. Tickets are $20; 18+. In addition, there's a show at Primary, 5 W. Division St., at 10pm, featuring Sluggo, Rees Urban, DJ Pluto and Lindsay Bailey. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, 21+. You can also get a get a festival pass for $55.
