Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events is rounding up another Food Truck Rally today at Daley Plaza (Washington and Dearborn) from 11 a.m. -7 p.m. The ten participating trucks are Beavers Coffee and Donuts, Chicago Cupcake, Corner Farmacy, DönerMen, Husky Hog BBQ, Jack's Fork in the Road, Model Chef, Pierogi Wagon, Taquero Fusion, and Yum Dum. There will also be wine and beer from Goose Island.
Andersonville's 12th annual Arts & Design Weekend runs Oct. 10-12 throughout the neighborhood. Beginning at 6pm tonight with the "Night of 100 pARTies," find art exhibitions and performances in stores, restaurants and other spaces, all free. See the full schedule for details.
Big Freedia, queen of New Orleans bounce, returns to Chicago with a show tonight at the Concord Music Hall, 2047 N. Milwaukee Ave., with Porn and Chicken, Mister Wallace and Swaguerrilla opening. Doors open at 6:30pm. Tickets are $18. All ages.
The fifth annual Beer Hoptacular, a celebration of craft beer, craft beer and craft beer, holds court at the Aragon Ballroom (1106 W. Lawrence Ave.) tonight (6:30-10:00pm) and tomorrow (two sessions, 1:00-4:30pm and 6:30-10:00pm). Your $45 ticket (early entry VIP $85) gets you 25 tastings (over 150 beers will be on tap, from 60+ breweries in attendance), as well as a commemorative glass and a voting ballot for the Beer of the Year. The BeerHop Derby (the breweries compete, and the only materials allowed are beer bottles and cans), the Homebrew Challenge (where the home brewers compete!), and the BeardHoptacular (whose facial hair will win?) will also be taking place for your drunken (or buzzed) enjoyment.
The Afghan Whigs continue their reunion tour with a show tonight at the Metro, 3730 N. Clark St., with Joseph Arthur and Lou's Lounge (DJ set) opening. Doors are at 8pm, show's at 9. Tickets are $30. 18+

Homeroom's latest Songwriter Showcase is tonight at Uncommon Ground, 3800 N. Clark St., at 9pm. Che Arthur of Pink Avalanche, James Deia of Blasted Diplomats, Anthony Cozzi of Radar Eyes, and Maigin Blank Whales discuss their craft and perform without a backing band or amplifier. Tickets are $8.
