Andersonville Arts & Design Weekend

Andersonville's 12th annual Arts & Design Weekend runs Oct. 10-12 throughout the neighborhood. Beginning at 11am today, find art exhibitions, demos and performances in stores, restaurants and other spaces, all free. See the full schedule for details.

Gapers Block Microbrewery Crawl

The Gapers Block Microbrewery Crawlkicks off today at the new Lagunitas Brewery and travels by bus to Goose Island's brewery and new barrel house on Fulton Street. From there we'll head to the brand new BreakRoom Brewery and finish up at the Begyle Brewing, where we'll learn what "community supported beer" is -- and also enjoy freshly grilled food from Manbque. The crawl begins at 11am at Lagunitas Brewery, 1843 S. Washtenaw Ave., and ends at Begyle Brewing, 1800 W. Cuyler Ave. (No transportation back to Lagunitas, so plan accordingly.) Tickets are $60 and include samples and tours at each brewery, plus dinner at the end. More details in Drive-Thru. 21+

Handmade Market @ Empty Bottle

Handmade Market is back at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., this afternoon from noon to 4pm. Come view plenty of local crafters selling their handmade wares! Admission is free. 21+, with the exception of kids accompanied by a parent.

Windy City BBQ Classic

The Windy City BBQ Classic runs from noon to 7pm today in the south parking lot at Soldier Field, 1410 S. Museum Campus Dr., with more than 40 barbecue teams battle for smoked meat supremacy and more than 50 restaurants will serve all-you-can eat barbecue. There will also be live music, craft beer and spirits, dessert tastings and cooking demos. Tickets are $49 in advance, $73.50 at the door -- or spring for $79 VIPs or $99 premium tickets, which earn you higher levels of access.

Music Box of Horrors

Music Box of Horrors, the Music Box Theatre's annual 24-hour horror movie marathon, starts today at noon and runs till noon Sunday. Films include The Phantom Carriage, Cat People, The Curse of the Werewolf, Nosferatu the Vampyre, Just Before Dawn and Audition. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 day-of. The Music Box is at 3733 N. Southport Ave.

Beer Hoptacular @ Aragon Ballroom

The fifth annual Beer Hoptacular, a celebration of craft beer, craft beer and craft beer, holds court at the Aragon Ballroom (1106 W. Lawrence Ave.) today (two sessions, 1:00-4:30pm and 6:30-10:00pm). Your $45 ticket (early entry VIP $85) gets you 25 tastings (over 150 beers will be on tap, from 60+ breweries in attendance), as well as a commemorative glass and a voting ballot for the Beer of the Year. The BeerHop Derby (the breweries compete, and the only materials allowed are beer bottles and cans), the Homebrew Challenge (where the home brewers compete!), and the BeardHoptacular (whose facial hair will win?) will also be taking place for your drunken (or buzzed) enjoyment.

Electronic artist Rene Hell @ Lampo/Graham Foundation

Long-running experimental music series Lampo presents a free concert of music by electronic musician Rene Hell, the alias of Jeff Witscher, also of Impregnable, Marble Sky, Abelar Scout, and others. Rene Hell's best-known releases, including Terminal Symphony (Type), and Vanilla Call Option (PAN) combine accomplished compositional skill and piano playing with electronic sounds and visceral effects. The event takes place at the Graham Foundation's Madlener House, 4 W. Burton Pl. 8 p.m. Tickets are free with RSVP. Paul McCartney tribute @ Old Town School

The Old Town School of Folk Music pays tribute to Sir Paul McCartney with an evening of music performed by school faculty and students. The concert starts at 8:00pm and happens in Szold Hall in the school's new building at 4545 North Lincoln Avenue. The Fall Ball @ Logan Square Auditorium

Empty Bottle Presents and Jane Beachy present The Fall Ball at the Logan Square Auditorium, 2539 N.
