Panel Discussion with Photography Susan Meiselas

The Logan Center located in Hyde Park is hosting a panel discussion with the Award winning Magnum photographer, Susan Meiselas. The discussion will be geared toward human rights and Meiselas' photographic project, "El Mozote". The event is free and open to the public. Local Brews, Local Grooves @ House of Blues

The House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn St. hosts Local Brews, Local Grooves, a craft beer and music festival, tonight from 5:30 to 10:30pm. Fourteen local breweries will pour their stuff while nine local bands play; food stations will help keep the party from getting nasty. Wristbands are $15 and get you five tastings. 21+

Lafite Wine Tasting @ Sofitel

The Cigale Room of Sofitel's Water Tower location (20 E. Chestnut St.) plays host to a special Wine Days Tasting. Lafite wines will be featured as well as food from Chestnut Provisions, house-made cheese, and charcuterie. The tasting goes from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are $35

Cao Fei: Haze & Fog @ Gene Siskel Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center, located on 164 N. State St. is hosting Cao Fei, a video and installation artist whose work mixes fantasy and documentary in order to present China's economy. Haze and Fog will be showing at the film center at 6pm. Following Haze and Fog will be a discussion. $11 general public, $6 film center members, $7 students.

Englewood International Film Festival

The Englewood International Film Festival runs Oct. 23-26, primarily at the Chatham 14 Theaters, 210 W. 87th St. Tonight's opening reception from 7 to 9pm includes a conversation with director Christopher Nolen (Four Seasons, The Good Life, Subtle Seduction) at KuSanya Cafe, 825 W. 69th St. Tickets are $25 for the red carpet reception Friday, $8 for individual screenings or $40 for a festival pass. Tonight's talk is free for festival pass holders.

Stars Align @ GMan Tavern

Gapers Block and Begyle Brewing present Stars Align, a new music series that brings together two local artists for a unique collaboration for one night only, tonight at the GMan Tavern, 3740 N. Clark St. The inaugural show features Stanton McConnell of Santah and Jim Drake of Jaime Rojo. Each musician will play re-imagined, stripped-down versions of the other's songs. And we're sure they'll throw in some classic covers, and maybe even a duet or two for good measure. The result will be a unique experience you won't want to miss. Doors open at 7pm, show's at 7:30pm. No cover, 21+

Cass McCombs & Meat Puppets @ Empty Bottle

Cass McCombs and the Meat Puppets play the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., tonight at 9pm. Tickets are $20. 21+

Chicagoist 10th Anniversary Party

Our young friends at Chicagoist celebrate their 10th anniversary at Emporium Arcade Bar, 1366 N. Milwaukee Ave., tonight at 9pm. There's a hosted bar by PBR, Sailor Jerry rum and Monkey Shoulder scotch while supplies last, and the food trucks The Salsa Truck, DönerMen, and Beavers Coffee + Donuts will be outside. Daniel Wade and DJ Matt Roan perform, and there'll be a charity raffle to benefit 826CHI. No cover; RSVP here. 21+
