Shamblers' Ball @ Public House Theatre

Chicago Loot Drop hosts the Shamblers' Ball, a benefit for the Comer Children's Hospital, tonight at the Public House Theatre, 3914 N. Clark St., at 7pm. There will be food, drinks and dancing in the grand tradition of old English social events -- except that at some point the undead will invade. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Fancy dress or upscale casual attire requested. 21+

Unplugged @ 27 Live

Paul McComas and Maya Kuper perform Unplugged: Scenes and Songs to Combat Rape and Despair tonight at 7pm at 27 Live, 1012 Church St. in Evanston. The show is a benefit for RAINN and the One Mind Initiative. Tickets are $10 and include a $5 drink ticket.

Nude Beach @ Subterranean

Nude Beach is a jangly New York rock'n'roll band who sound like they popped out of a time capsule from the late 70s. No fancy gimmicks, just a good time. The show is $10, 17+ and doors open at 8PM. Subterranean's at 2011 North.

Oozing Wound @ Empty Bottle

Permanent Records' anniversary shows never cease to have great lineups. This year's no exception with an all-Chicago bill featuring Oozing Wound's record release. Earth Suck on Thrill Jockey is sure to be another tour de force of their catchy metal. Running and Rectal Hygienics open. (How could you live with yourself not going to a show with bands called Oozing Wound and Rectal Hygienics?) The show's free, 21+ and starts at 9PM or so. The Empty Bottle's at 1035 N. Western.
