ART21 Screening and Conversation with Jennifer Reeder @ Gallery 400
Today at 12pm, Chicago-based filmmaker and artist, Jennifer Reeder and UIC MA candidate, Andie Kimura will be holding a conversation and leading a viewing of ART21's Episode 4. Katharina Grosse, Joan Jonas, and Omer Fast are the artists featured in the episode tonight. Event is free, snacks will be provided and Gallery 400 is located on 400 S. Peoria St.
I Learn America @ AMC River East
Facing History presents a screening of I Learn America: One High School, One School Year, Five New Americans, a documentary following five immigrant teens as they learn to navigate their new school and new country, tonight at 6pm at the AMC River East 21, 322 E. Illinois St. A conversation with filmmaker Jean-Michel Dissard and the students featured in the film will follow the screening. Register online to attend.
Chicago Food Film Festival: The Great Chicken Wing Hunt @ Kendall College
An airing of the new documentary "The Great Chicken Wing Hunt" followed by what else--wings!--cocktails and conversation kick off the Chicago Food Film Festival tonight at Kendall College, 900 North Branch. Doors open 6:30pm (6pm for VIPs); tickets $65-85.
Palabra Pura @ La Bruquena
The Guild Literary Complex presents Palabra Pura, a reading featuring Latin-American literature, tonight from 7:30 to 9pm at La Bruquena, 2726 W. Division St. Guest curator Paul Martinez Pompa put together readings by Daniel Borzutzky and Justin Petropoulos under the theme "From the Margins of the Margins." Admission is free.
