Northwestern's A&O Productions presents B-Fest 2015, the annual 24-hour B-movie film festival happening on the Northwestern campus in Evanston. From 6:00pm tonight until 6:00pm Saturday, a couple hundred film fans will hole up in the McCormick Auditorium to test their endurance of the cheesiest films mankind has to offer. Expect action flicks, blaxploitation, monster movies, and Plan 9 from Outer Space screening at midnight. Please see the B-Fest Website for full details and a link to purchase tickets.
It's getting close to election time, and Ald. Ed Bus of the 53rd Ward is back at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., tonight at 6:30pm for the latest installment of 53rd Ward: After Dark. Community activist and former Weather Underground member Bill Ayers and 1st Ward Ald. Procco Joe Moreno are the guests. Tickets are $10. 21+
LA-based, Austrian-born artist Mathias Poledna gives talk this evening at the Renaissance Society pertaining to his current exhibition and film display. The event is free and will take place at the Film Studies Center, 5811 S. Ellis Ave, in Cobb Hall on the third floor.
Experimental filmmaker, video artist, performer and curator Jesse Malmed will be screening several pieces at University of Chicago's Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St., room 201, as part of the show Untitled (Just Kidding). Malmed will be in attendance to discuss his work during the screening, which begins at 6:30pm. Free.
Lifeline Theatre's 18th annual Fillet of Solo Festival of solo performances and storytelling runs Jan. 9-25. Performances are held at the Lifeline Theatre, 6912 N. Glenwood Ave., and the Heartland Studio Theatre, 7016 N. Glenwood Ave. Tickets are $10 per show or $50 for a festival pass, and are available online or at the Lifeline box office.

The Honey Hole, a temporary art gallery located at 1656 S. Throop St., will be hosting an opening night with works by Zachary Cahill, Great Northern Labs, David Lloyd and DJ Phoenix. The event takes place this evening from 7-10PM. DJ Phoenix begins at 9PM; Free.
Chicago's own Soft Speaker headlines Bottom Lounge, 1375 W. Lake St., tonight, with American Wolf, Aktar Aktar and Secret Science opening. Doors open at 8:30pm, show's at 9. Tickets are $10, and it's 17-and-over.
The Art Institute, 111 S. Michigan Ave., is hosting Late-Night Party: After Dark, an event in celebration of "Temptation: The Demons of James Ensor," from 9pm to midnight tonight The party will include live music, after-hour tours of the exhibition, and refreshments. Tickets can be purchased online, at the museum, or by phone at 877-307-4AIC. Evening associates $15, Members $20, Nonmembers $30.
