Tonight the ACLU of Illinois and David Weinberg Photography are hosting a special impact event before the official opening of a new exhibition about the juvenile justice system in America, "Try Youth as Youth." Proceeds from the night's ticket sales will benefit the ACLU of Illinois' Children's Rights Initiative. Buy tickets online. The opening reception for the show follows the next night. The exhibition will run from February 13 to May 9 at David Weinberg Photography, 300 W. Superior Street, Suite 203.
The Art Institute, 111 S. Michigan Ave., presents a The Mummy Is a Daddy: How Technology Is Revealing Secrets of the Mummies, a panel discussion this evening at 6pm. In Fullerton Hall, several visiting curators and professors will introduce results of two CT scans performed on Art Institute mummies. Free with museum admission.
Chicago-based artists, Sonnenzimmer and the Montreal-based artists, Seripop, are both exhibiting their work today from 5-8PM at the Center for Book and Paper Arts at Columbia College Chicago. The reception is located at 104 S. Wabash Ave., 2nd floor. The event is free and open to the public.
Starting at 6 p.m., Jerry's in Wicker Park (1938 W Division) is celebrating barrel-aged beers by offering a select list of brews from Revolution, Founders, and Avery Brewing, among others, against a backdrop of fantasy-inspired prog. Rabble Rabble performs at 11 p.m. There's no cost to attend the event and beers will be pay-as-you-go.
