SAIC Undergraduate Exhibition @ The Sullivan Galleries

The SAIC spring undergraduate exhibition is having its opening reception today from 12-6PM at the Sullivan Galleries. More than 300 students will be completing their degrees this spring and this exhibition will illustrate their impressive and innovative work. The Sullivan Galleries are located on 33 S. State St.,7th floor. The opening reception is free and the show will be on view until April 1st.

SXSW Send Off Party @ Hideout

The Hideout hosts an all-day showcase featuring 11 bands that are heading off to SXSW 2015. Among the acts performing: Tom Schraeder; The Lemons; Running; Psalm One; and Jon Langford (!). The Paper Machete @ Green Mill

The Paper Machete this week features stories from Brian Babylon, Joel Kim Booster, Paul Chimko and Nick Mestad, Gwynn Fulcher, Bob Piatt and Nancy Piatt, plus Chad the Bird and musical guests Gobs of Phun and Everybody Says Yes. Christopher Piatt hosts. The show starts at 3pm at the Green Mill, 4802 N. Broadway. No cover, 21+.

Matthew Metzger Opening Reception @ Regards Gallery

Regards is featuring the artist Matthew Metzger this afternoon in his opening reception from 4-7PM. The exhibition will be up until April 25th and is located at 2216 West Chicago Avenue.

Levitation Chicago @ Thalia Hall

Empty Bottle Presents and Austin Psych Fest present Levitation Chicago, a two day music festival at Thalia Hall, 1807 S. Allport Ave., tonight and Saturday. Tonight's lineup features Swervedriver, Atlas Sound, Lumerians, Oren Ambarchi, Heat Leisure feat. Ken Babbs, Vision Fortune, Christines and Gateway Drugs. Doors open at 6pm, show starts at 7pm. Tickets are $25, or $35 for both days.

Black Friars Social Club @ Abbey Pub

Black Friars Social Club, led by Industrial veteran Mark Panick, play tonight at the Abbey Pub, 3420 W. Grace St., at 8pm. Tickets are $5. Doors open at 7pm. 21+

Torche @ Empty Bottle

Miami's Torche churns out wicked stoner metal and seems to leave eardrums rattling whenever they play Chicago. Joining them at the Bottle will be Philadelphia's Nothing, worth more than their name implies, and playing a scorching brand of shoegaze. Torche headlines tonight at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave. Doors are at 9pm. The show's $15 and 21+. Wrong opens.
