Today kicks off the Good Food Festival, a three-day festival celebrating the many aspects of the food industry--today's theme, "Good Food Financing & Innovation," looks at how the food and small farm industries can exist in turbulent times. If you're a food producer looking for financial advice (or even a funder!), this is your day. The festival runs 8:30am to 6pm at the UIC Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt. Tickets start at $90. And from 7 to 9:30pm, Localicious brings foodies and chefs together for a party. Tickets are $80 in advance, $95 at the door.
Columbia College's Story Week Festival of Writers runs March 15-21 at various locations throughout the city. See the schedule for details. All events are free and open to the public.
The Auditorium Theatre at Roosevelt University, 50 E. Congress Pkwy., will become a "batcave" with themed cocktails and a superhero photo booth preceding the showing of Christopher Nolan's 2007 film The Dark Knight, which was made in Chicago. Doors open at 6pm and the free screening will be at 7pm in the theater. The event is part of the "Made in Chicago" Movie Series and is tied to the theater's 125th anniversary celebration. James Welling will be speaking at the Art Institute of Chicago tonight from 6-7pm in Fullerton Hall. The event is offered on the occasion of the launch of the new University of Chicago Press monograph, James Welling: Diary/Landscape and the Art Institute of Chicago's exhibition of the same name. Tonight #THAW2015 will be partying in downtown Chicago--right in the middle of everything on Block 37. There will be food and drinks and special spirits from Rhine Hall beginning at 6:30 and lasting until 11:30. General admission is $35. The exact location is 108 N. State St.
The intricate dream pop of Craft Spells will certainly take hold of Schubas, 3159 N Southport Ave. They will be joined by dream pop group The Bilinda Butchers and local indie pop band Tiny Fireflies. Show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets for this all ages show are $12 in advance, $14 at the door.

Gordon Robertson of The Damn Choir and Chris Weinke of Carbon Tigers come together for a one-night-only collaboration at Stars Align, Gapers Block's monthly music series at the GMan Tavern, 3740 N.
