Chi-Fi @ Palmer House Hilton

Let your inner geek shine at Chi-Fi, the weekend-long convention dedicated to celebrating your geekdom! Whether you're into cosplay, RPGs, sci-fi, podcasting, steampunk, anime or zombies, there's room -- and programming -- for you. The festival runs March 19-22 at the Palmer House Hilton, 17 E. Monroe St. It's open from 8:30am today and runs late into the night. Admission is $30 for a day pass, $60 in advance for a full weekend pass ($75 at the door.) Students and active military get a $10 discount with valid ID.

Good Food Festival @ UIC Forum

Day 2 of the Good Food Festival, a three-day festival celebrating the many aspects of the food industry--today's theme, "Food Policy, Production and Advocacy," looks at how nutrition policy can positively impact populations. Event runs 8:30am-9:00pm at UIC Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt. Additionally, local chefs will be serving their best bites from 7-9:30pm. It's worth the admission alone! Tickets start at $90.

Story Week Festival of Writers

William Schweigert "Our Debt, Your Debt" Opening Reception@ FLATspace

"Our Debt, Your Debt" is the solo exhibition at FLATspace featuring the works of William Schweigert, a painter located in Chicago. The opening reception is from 6-10PM and is located at Mana Contemporary, 2233 S. Throop St, 4th floor. The event is free but please RSVP.


My Kind of Town Opening Reception @ FLATSstudio

FLATSstudio is celebrating Chicago's 178th birthday with the event and exhibition, My Kind of Town. The work in the show will exemplify the architecture, history and culture which thrives in Chicago. Seth Avett & Jessica Lea Mayfield @ Athenaeum Theater

Seth Avett of The Avett Brothers and singer songwriter Jessica Lea Mayfield have come together to record an album of Elliot Smith cover songs. The two musicians bring a new light to Smith's already poignant and lasting songs. Avett and Mayfield will be performing at Athenaeum Theater, 2936 N Southport Ave., at 8pm This is an all ages show. Tickets are $47.
