From 6 p.m.-9 p.m. tonight, The Dawson (730 West Grand Avenue) hosts their first pop-up dinner event in collaboration with Wisconsin-based Death's Door Spirits and Bittercube. Inspired by camping and Wisconsin's outdoors, the event, "From Wisconsin...With Love," features a six-course cocktail menu that will be paired with dishes from The Dawson's executive chef Shaun King. Pairings include Baraboo Trail (Death's Door gin, grapefruit, mezcal, Wisconsin maple syrup, salt, Bittercube corazon bitters) with Romanesco steak, and Ghost Story (dried orange and cherry-infused Death's Door white whiskey, raisin brandy Syrup, Bittercube cherry bark vanilla bitters, orange, cherry) with black sugar flambe. Tickets, which include tax and gratuity, are $65.
Quimby's Bookstore, 1854 W. North Ave., hosts a Night of Cartoonists tonight at 7pm. Reading and discussing work will be three cartoonists: Nicole J. Georges, Keiler Roberts and Gina Wynbrandt. Read our preview in Book Club. Free.
This is the final week to catch Redletter at the Neo-Futurarium, 5153 N. Ashland Ave. The play features Neo-Futurists Bilal Dardai, Trevor Dawkins and local live lit favorites Lisa Buscani, Lindsay Muscato and Thea Lux.
