The Museum of Contemporary Art presents Notes on Empty Chairs, a series of interactive performances by Chicago-based artist Kirsten Leenaars exploring themes of empathy, loss, and remembrance. Tonight's performance is from 6 to 7pm in the MCA Studio, 220 E. Chicago Ave. Free with museum admission.
Write Club returns to the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., tonight at 7pm for its last battle till September. As always, two writers will read stories in support of their opposing topic, and the audience will choose a winner. The battles are as follows: Stephen Walker plays "rock" against Clint Sheffer with "roll," Kevin Alves has the "beats versus Amanda Claire Buckley's "rhymes," and Erika Price defends "music" while Steve Trumpeter champions "lyrics." Admission is $10 at the door. 21+
The South Side chapter of Story Club is back at the Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219 S. Morgan St., tonight at 7:30pm. The theme this month is "Migrations," and readers include Michelle Cabral, Charles Hinriksson, Erin Watson and Clarence Browley, plus a couple open mic slots. Andrew Marikis hosts. $10 suggested donation.
