Eat to the Beat: Chicago Academy for the Arts

As a part of the Harris Theater's Eat to the Beat series, The Chicago Academy for the Arts' Academy Repertory Dance Company will put on a 45-minute lunchtime performance today at noon. Audience members can "eat to the beat" with cuisine from food trucks on Lower Randolph. The Harris Theater is located at 205 E. Randolph. Tickets are $5.

Maifest @ Lincoln Square

Lincoln Square's Maifest runs May 28-31 at Western and Lincoln. Enjoy live music, fresh German beer and food, and the camaraderie of several hundred of your best friends. Admission is free. The festival runs from 5 to 9:30pm tonight.

STAND UP for Equality's Love Is Love

STAND UP for Equality hosts Love Is Love, a semi-formal event commemorating the first year of Marriage Equality in Illinois, tonight from 6 to 10pm at Cafe Brauer, 2021 N. Stockton Dr. Enjoy specialty cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, entertainment and photo ops while raising money for Equality Illinois. Guests are encouraged to wear black attire customized with a flourish of their favorite bright color. Tickets are $25.

7 Minutes in Purgatory @ Hideout

Seven Minutes in Purgatory, a stand-up comedy show in which the comics perform in a soundproof booth, unable to hear or see the audience, comes to the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. Host Ian Abramson presents Giulia Rozzi, Mike Lebovitz, John Eisenrich, Will Miles, Sonia Denis and a secret special guest. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 6, show's at 7pm. 21+

Chicago Science Fest

The Illinois Science Council presents Chicago Science Fest May 28-30. Tonight's program is "The Current State of Science & Technology Research and its Economic Impact on Chicago" at 6:30pm Chase Auditorium, 10 S. Dearborn St. The panel discussion features Congressman Bill Foster, TechNexus CEO Terry Howerton and Northwestern neurobiologist Dr. Catherine Woolley. Tribune reporter Rex Huppke moderates. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

Nick Offerman @ Chicago Humanities Festival

The Chicago Humanities Festival presents an evening with Nick Offerman, Chicago native and star of "Parks & Rec," tonight at 7pm at the Merle Reskin Theatre, 60 E. Balbo Ave. Offerman will do a reading and performance of his new book, Gumption: Relighting the Torch of Freedom with America's Gutsiest Troublemakers, followed by an interview with Mark Bazer. Tickets are $32-38, and include a copy of the book. Main floor tickets are sold out, but balcony seats are still available.

CHIRP 5th Anniversary @ Moxee Restaurant

CHIRP Radio celebrates its fifth anniversary with a dinner and dance party tonight at 7pm at Moxee Restaurant and Mad Mouse Brewery, 724 W. Maxwell St. Join them for a buffet dinner from 7 to 9, then stick around and dance to music spun by CHIRP DJs until 11pm. Tickets are $21 in advance, $25 at the door.

High Fidelity Film Series @ Music Box

WBEZ and The Music Box Theatre present the latest in their High Fidelity Film Series: Sepideh: Reaching For The Stars, screening this evening at 7:30pm.
