Fiesta del Sol

Pilsen's Fiesta del Sol, the largest Latino culture festival in the Midwest, runs July 30 to Aug. 2 on Cermak Roadd from Morgan to Loomis. The festival features live music on two stages, an arts and culture pavilion, kids' area, a soccer tournament, food vendors, carnival rides and more. Admission is free; buy a "megapass" for unlimited carnival rides. The festival runs from 11am to 11pm today.

Little City Center for the Arts Closing Exhibit Celebration

I AM Logan Square and LittleCity will be a presenting a screening of "Share My Kingdom" at Logan Theatre, 2646 N Milwaukee Ave, today at Noon. The film showcases three artists from Little City. Once the screening is completed, there will be a reception at the I AM Logan Square Gallery, 2644 ½ N. Milwaukee Ave. Tickets are available online and priced at $10.

Taste of Latin America

Armitage from Central Park to Avers turns into a delicious food extravaganza today and tomorrow (Noon-10). Featured restaurants include Cemitas Puebla, Sabor Latino and La Palma.

Gapers Block Hot Dog Cookoff @ Schubas

Gapers Block hosts the third annual Hot Dog Cookoff today from noon to 5pm in the parking lot next to Schubas, 3159 N. Southport Ave. Come taste new interpretations of the classic Vienna Beef red hot by chefs from Harmony Grill, Wiener and Still Champion, Monti's, ThePizzle.net and two-time defending champions ManBQue. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for kids 12 and under, and get you samples of all the competitors hot dogs, as well as $3 Lagunitas draft beers, a raffle, cornhole and more. Proceeds from the event will benefit Reach Out and Read of Illinois, an early literacy organization. RSVP on Facebook.

Old Irving Park Beer & BBQ Challenge

The Old Irving Park Beer & BBQ Challenge runs from 1 to 5pm at St. Viator School, 4140 W. Addison St. Sample competition barbecue from 15 teams, each paired with beers a local microbrewery. Tickets are $50 in advance, $60 at the door, or go VIP for $75 ($80 at the door).

Peter Skvara: "Approaches" Opening Reception @ Andrew Rafacz Gallery

Andrew Rafacz Gallery, located at 835 W. Washington Blvd., will be presenting a solo exhibition of Peter Skvara's paintings and installations today from 4-7pm at an opening reception event. Many of the works in "Approaches" reference shipwrecks, Lake Michigan, and exploration. The works will on view until September 5th, 2015. The event is free and open to the public.

Caseen Gaines @ Quimby's

Kelly Clarkson performs at the Allstate Arena, 6920 N. Mannheim Rd. in Rosemont, tonight, with Pentatonix, Eric Hutchinson and Abi Ann opening. Tickets are $30.50-$112. Doors open at 7pm.

Tony Fitzpatrick @ Book Cellar

Artist and writer Tony Fitzpatrick discusses Dime Stories, his recent collection of essays and artwork, tonight at 7pm at the Book Cellar, 4736 N. Lincoln Ave. Free.

Open screening @ Chicago Filmmakers

Chicago Filmmakers (5243 N. Clark) holds their regular "open screening" tonight at 8:00pm. Local filmmakers are invited to bring their works (maximum time allowed is 20 minutes); all works will be screened. Admission is free.
