Bucktown Arts Fest
The 30th annual Bucktown Arts Fest is Saturday and today from 11am to 7pm in Holstein Park, 2200 N. Oakley Ave. View and purchase work by more than 200 artists, listen to live music on two stages, and enjoy food and craft beer. Admission is free.
Eggs for Kids @ Hopleaf
Hopleaf, 5148 N. Clark St., hosts Eggs for Kids, a fundraiser for Pierce Elementary School, today from 11am to 3pm. For $40 online ($50 at the door), you'll get brunch, fresh coffee and juice, and a ticket for one drink ($5 beer, wine, bloodies or mimosas thereafter.) There will also be a silent auction. Admission is 21 and over.
Food + Wine Festival @ Lincoln and Grant Parks
Think of it as Chicago Gourmet's equally interesting cousin--the first-ever Food + Wine Festival, which holds court today at 11am in Lincoln Park and Grant Park, is a day of tastings, samplings, cooking demos, and general feelings of fabulous-ness with the usual suspects of the local culinary scene--Bayless, Izard, Segal et al. Tickets $175.
Dynasty Podcasts 10th Anniversary Livestream
For this event, you just have to go to your computer. Jaime Black will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dynasty Podcasts with a 10-hour marathon show today from noon to 10pm. Chicago Fashion & Music Fest
The Chicago Fashion & Music Fest runs from noon to 10pm Saturday and today on Division Street between Damen and Paulina. There will be live music at the Damen end, curated by Subterranean, and a fashion stage on the Paulina end showcasing the work of local designers. In between, shop for clothing and accessories at vendor booths as well as neighborhood shops' sidewalk sale, enjoy food and drinks and maybe even ride a mechanical bull. $5 suggested donation.
Big Hot Bang @ Bang Bang Pie
Hot Chocolate and Bang Bang Pie host their East Coast cousin Big Gay Ice Cream for an afternoon treat sampling and book signing at Bang Bang Pie, 2051 N. California. Starting at 2:30pm, you can get your copy of Big Gay's newest book and/or Mindy Segal's book Cookie Love signed, and enjoy all the treats. Tickets $10-30; books available for purchase onsite.
Entertaining Julia @ Empty Bottle
The Puterbaugh Sisters bring their Entertaining Julia comedy show to the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., every Sunday in August. The final lineup includes the Sisters themselves, live music by AJ Davila y Terror Amor and The Rubs, as well resident DJ Constance K. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 9pm. 21+
