Lakeview East Festival of the Arts

The Lakeview East Festival of the Arts runs Sept. 11-13 along Broadway from Stratford to Belmont. The festival this year includes live music on two stages, a cooking demo stage, children's activity area, and more than 150 artists and artisans selling their work. The festival runs from 10am to 10pm today.

Windy City BBQ Classic

The Windy City BBQ Classic runs from 11am to 4pm today at Soldier Field, 1410 Museum Campus Dr. Sample barbecue from top competitive pitmasters from around the country; wash it down with drinks from Lagunitas, Tito's Vodka and Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine; watch demos and enjoy live music. Tickets are $100. Preview in Drive-Thru.

Andersonville City Made Fest

City Made Fest, the "only" all-local street festival that features only Chicago beer, music and products, begins today at noon and goes until 9pm. The fest will have live entertainment, work from Chicago artists, a "Made in Chicago" marketplace, and delicious chi-town grub. The fest will be located along Clark Street from Argyle to Carmen. The suggested gate donation is $5.

German-American Fest

The 95th annual German-American Fest takes over Lincoln Square this weekend, Sept. 11-13, on Lincoln Avenue from Western to Eastwood. Enjoy beer and wine, giant pretzels, German music and dancing. It's open from noon to 11pm today, and the Von Steuben Parade steps off at 2pm. Admission is free.

Logan Square Beer Fest

Logan Square Auditorium (2539 N. Kedzie) opens its doors to beer-lovers today (two sessions: 1-4pm and 5-8pm) to sample beers from a long list of purveyors, among them Solemn Oath, Ale Syndicate and Half Acre. Your $48 ticket gets you drink tickets and a commemorative glass to show off your swilling skills to your friends.

Chicago Fringe Festival

The Chicago Fringe Festival runs Sept. 3-13 in five venues throughout the Jefferson Park neighborhood. Pick up a festival button (required for all shows) for $5 online or at Fischman's Liquors, 4780 N. Milwaukee Ave., then take your pick of the many performances of experimental theater, performance art, sketch comedy, dance and more -- see the schedule for daily details. Tickets to performances are $10, with multi-show tickets available. Shows start at 1pm today.

Chelsea Knight "Fall to Earth" Opening Reception @ Aspect/Ratio

Tonight from 5-9pm, Chelsea Knight will be featuring video and performance work at Aspect/Ratio. The gallery is located at 119 N. Peoria St., 3D.

"Door Hinges" Jessica Stockholder Opening Reception @ Kavi Gupta Gallery

Jessica Stockholder will be having her first solo show in Chicago in 24 years at Kavi Gupta Gallery. Stockholder's work is colorful and based in mixed media. The opening reception will be held from 6-9pm and is located at 219 N Elizabeth St.

Pegboy @ 1st Ward

1st Ward at Chop Shop, 2033 W. North Ave., presents Pegboy in concert tonight, with Bleach Party and Big Baby opening. Doors are at 8pm. Tickets are $15. 21+

DICKIE @ Schubas

DICKIE (Dick Prall and Kristina Priceman) celebrate the release of their debut album with a show tonight at 9pm at Schubas, 3159 N. Southport Ave. Frances Luke Accord opens. Preview in Transmission. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. 21+

Porn Minus Porn at Under the Gun Theater

Porn Minus Porn by the Under the Gun Ensemble presents live staged readings of actual dialogue from real porn movies, but none of the sex acts. See it at 10:30pm every Saturday in September at Under the Gun Theater, 956 W. Newport Ave. Tickets are $12.
