EXPO Chicago @ Navy Pier

The International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art returns to Navy Pier, 600 E. Grand Ave., Sept. 18-20. The festival features 140 leading galleries from around the world. The festival is open from 11am to 7pm today. Tickets are $20, or get a three-day pass for $30.

Chicago Internet Cat Video Festival

The Chicago Internet Cat Video Festival -- benefiting ASPCA, Chicago Cat Rescue and Tree House Humane Society -- is today at the Athenaeum Theater, 2936 N. Southport Ave., with special guests Lil Bub with Mike Bridavsky and the CATastrophes. There are showtimes at 1, 4:30 and 8pm. Tickets are $15, or go for the $100 Lil Bub meet'n'greet at 11am, 3pm and 6:30pm. Or both!

Ravenswood Art Walk

The Ravenswood Art Walk runs today and Sunday from 11am to 6pm at locations along both sides of Ravenswood Avenue from Waveland to Lawrence. Visit dozens of open studios and see artwork displayed in local businesses, shop in the artist market between Berteau and Belle Plaine, enjoy live music on two stages, and sample locally brewed beer at the Begyle Brewing Urban Beer Garden. The festival is free; $5 suggested donation for admission to the artist market.

Renegade Craft Fair

The Renegade Craft Fair returns to Division Street between Damen and Paulina today and Sunday from 11am to 6pm. Shop more than 350 crafters, get food from food trucks and area restaurants and cafes, participate in workshops and more. Free.

Chicago Foodseum Grand Opening

The Chicago Foodseum holds the grand opening of its inaugural exhibit, "The Hot Dog and Encased Meat of the World," this Saturday at Block 37, 108 N. State St., from 11am to 7pm. Doug Sohn of Hot Doug's will give a talk on English's two finest words between 11am and noon, and you'll be able to explore the interactive exhibit for free.

SAIC 150th Anniversary Party

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago is 150 years old, and it's celebrating with a series of parties this weekend at 609 S. State St. Most are private, but the Continuing Studies Block Party today from noon to 4pm today is open to the public. It'll feature family-friendly activities, like t-shirt making and mural painting, food trucks, and staffers will be on hand to tell you about the school's continuing ed program. Free.

Reeling Film Festival

The 33rd annual Reeling Film Festival runs Sept. 17-24 at multiple venues throughout the city. See the schedule for full details. First screenings are at noon today.

DuSable Canoe Experience

Like Chicago's great founder, climb into a canoe, discover how to thrive in the wilderness, and learn Native American customs at The DuSable Experience from the DuSable Museum on the west side of the Washington Park Lagoon at Russell and Best drives from 1 to 5pm today. This day of sensory learning is centered on the adventures of Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable who, in the late 18th century, canoed up the Mississippi River, worked closely with the Native Americans, and became Chicago's first non native settler. This free family day includes canoe ride, Native American crafts and games, wilderness survival class, and tours of a mobile museum. For ages 10 and up.

Goose Island Urban Block Party

Goose Island opens up its brewery at 1800 W. Fulton St. for its annual Urban Block Party today and Saturday. There'll be lots of beer -- including some rarities -- and encased meats by Hot Doug, plus live music on two stages by Sidewalk Chalk, Marrow, DJ RedLox, Matt & Kim, !!!, Jukebox the Ghost and Local H. The festival runs from 4 to 10pm tonight; tickets are $30 and cover both days. 21+

Independence Park Beer Fest

The second annual Independence Park Beer Fest runs today from 4 to 8pm in Independence Park, 3945 N. Springfield Ave. Sample beers from more than two dozen breweries, and enjoy live music and tasty treats from food trucks. Tickets are $40 and include a t-shirt and tasting glass. 21+

Story Sessions @ The Little House of Glencoe

Story Sessions comes back from summer break with stories around a campfire at The Little House of Glencoe (690 Birch Road in Glencoe) tonight at 6:30pm. Featured storytellers include Doug Reed, Diane Kastiel, Dan Sheehan, Kristin Clifford, Andrew Huff and Jennifer Peepas! Tonight's show is hosted by Story Sessions co-producers Jill Howe and Rachael Smith, with pre-show music from Andy Miller and Karl Neurauter. Hot chocolate and s'mores will be provided tickets are $12.

Matt Braunger Stand-Up Comedy @ Schubas

Native Chicagoan Matt Braunger's (NBC's "Up All Night") stand-up comedy show has been moved from The Second City's Up Comedy Club to Schubas (3159 N. Southport Ave) at 7pm. Tickets are $10 to $20.
