Chicago Museum Week

The first annual Chicago Museum Week runs Oct. 1-7. A dozen museums (Adler Planetarium, Art Insitute, Chicago History Museum, DuSable Museum, Field Museum, Lincoln Park Zoo, MCA, Museum of Science & Industry, National Museum of Mexican Art, National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and Shedd Aquarium) are offering free or discounted admission as well as special events and exhibits. Chicago Artists Month

From today until November 15, the 20th annual Chicago Artists Month will offer exhibitions, performances, workshops, walking tours, and other artistic experiences around the city. See the link above for a complete schedule of events.

Barbara Kasten "Stages" @ Graham Foundation

Barbara Kasten will be presenting Stages this evening from 5-8pm at the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts. The exhibition is in partnership with the Chicago Architecture Biennial. The Graham Foundation is located at 4 W. Burton Pl.

Gene Ween @ Space

Space, 1245 Chicago Ave. in Evanston, welcomes Gene Ween and The Push Push tonight at 8pm. Tickets are $22, doors open at 7pm.

Jessa Crispin Reading

Jessa Crisipin, founder and editor of Bookslut and Spolia, stops in Chicago tonight on the promotional tour for her new book, The Dead Ladies Project. The memoir is the story of Crispin's leaving Chicago and traveling through Europe after a bout of depression. She pieces together her life while telling the stories of past writers and thinkers' existential crises. Crispin describes the event as an "old fashioned house party." The event is at 1926 W. Erie St., beginning at 7pm. RSVP on Facebook.

Baudelaire in A Box @ Old Town School of Folk Music

The Old Town School of Folk Music hosts Theater Oobleck for their latest edition of Baudelaire in A Box, a theater project based on Baudelaire's Les Fleurs de mal. The show starts at 8:00pm tonight in Szold Hall in the school's newest building at 4545 N. Lincoln Avenue. Full details at the school site, or call (773) 728-6000.

The Amazing Acro-Cats @ Vittum Theater

The Amazing Acro-Cats perform for four nights at the Vittum Theater, 1012 N. Noble St. Watch the cats do a variety of circus tricks, play music and more. Tonight's performance is at 8pm. Tickets are $22, or $20 for seniors and students.
