Chicago Museum Week

The first annual Chicago Museum Week runs Oct. 1-7. A dozen museums (Adler Planetarium, Art Insitute, Chicago History Museum, DuSable Museum, Field Museum, Lincoln Park Zoo, MCA, Museum of Science & Industry, National Museum of Mexican Art, National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and Shedd Aquarium) are offering free or discounted admission as well as special events and exhibits. Rocktober Beerfest

Who says outdoor festival season is over? Rocktober Beerfest runs Oct. 2-4 at Plumbers Hall, 1340 W. Washington St. Enjoy Goose Island beers, brats and pretzels from Publican Quality Meats, and live music by the same bands you see at every neighborhood fest. The fest runs from 5 to 11pm tonight. $10 admission, or spend $40 and get a commemorative stein, two beers and a hot pretzel. 21+

Button-O-Matic Release Party

Busy Beaver Button Co. is celebrating the release of its latest Button-O-Matic collection with a release party and art supply drive at the National Museum of Mexican Art, 1852 W. 19th St., tonight from 6 to 9pm. The new collection includes artwork by students from Yollocalli Arts Reach; bring art supplies to benefit the organization, and don't forget to bring quarters to pick up some buttons.

Cornelia Arts Open House

The Cornelia Arts Building, 1800 W. Cornelia Ave., hosts its quarterly open house tonight from 6 to 9pm. Explore two floors of artist studios, listen to live music and enjoy food from the Pierogi Street food truck outside. Free admission.

Now You See It, Now You Don't @ Flat Iron Arts Building

The Flat Iron Arts Building is hosting their 6th annual exhibition, Now You See It, Now You Don't at 1579 N. Milwaukee Avenue. The show will feature more than 30 artists from 6-10pm. $5 suggested donation.

Chicago Arts Orchestra @ Athenaeum

The Chicago Arts Orchestra performs "Musica Viva! A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage" tonight at 8pm, with a pre-concert talk at 7:30pm, at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. Tickets start at $25; use the code CAOTWOFER to get two-for-one tickets. Doors open at 7pm.

Dillinger Four @ Double Door

Minneapolis punk band Dillinger Four are on a 21st anniversary tour. They play the Double Door, 1551 N. Damen Ave., tonight with Night Birds and the Brokedowns. Doors are at 7pm. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. 17+

Taste Talks

The Taste Talks food conference and festival runs Oct. 2-4 at several locations. Tonight's event is a "Mother of Pearl" dinner from 7 to 10pm at Local Foods, 1427 W. Willow St., a multi-course meal cooked by some of the city's top chefs, featuring oysters and Champagne. Tickets are $100. Get an multi-day pass for $150-450.

Prime-Time Vibes @ MCA

The Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago Ave., hosts Prime-Time Vibes tonight from 7 to 11pm. The event is a collaboration with Land and Sea Dept. and features food from Parson's, Cherry Circle Room and Longman & Eagle, as well as live performances by Dan Deacon; Ryley Walker; and Elliot Bergman, Quin Kirchner and Erik Hall. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door SOLD OUT.

Karen Finley @ Women & Children First

Karen Finley, renowned performance artist and author, reads and discusses the expanded anniversary edition of her 1990 classic Shock Treatment at Women & Children First Bookstore (5233 N. Clark) tonight at 7:30pm. Admission is Free.

The Amazing Acro-Cats @ Vittum Theater

The Amazing Acro-Cats perform for four nights at the Vittum Theater, 1012 N. Noble St. Watch the cats do a variety of circus tricks, play music and more. Tonight's performance is at 8pm. Tickets are $22, or $20 for seniors and students.

The Bellfuries @ Schubas
