"On Permanent Display" Opening Reception @ Efrain Lopez Gallery

Efrain Lopez Gallery will be presenting Ryan Coffey's solo exhibition,On Permanent Display today from 6-9pm. The exhibition will be held at 1620 W. Chicago Avenue, Suite 304. The show will be on view until December 27th.


Chicago Arts District 2nd Fridays

The Chicago Arts District's monthly Second Fridays neighborhood-wide open house is tonight, centered around 18th and Halsted streets. Dozens of galleries and studios are open starting at around 6pm, with many artists selling work. Free.

Game Positive @ Neo-Futurarium

The Neo-Futurists perform a special video-game-themed version of their long-running show Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind tonight at 7:00pm as a fundraising event. Taste of Ravenswood

The inaugural Taste of Ravenswood happens tonight from 7 to 10pm at the Ravenswood Event Center, 4025 N. Ravenswood Ave. Sample food from 10 local restaurants and drinks from eight local breweries and distilleries. Tickets are $65, or spring for the $100 VIP and get in an hour early for a cocktail party.

The Drive-By Truckers @ Thalia Hall

WXRT presents a two-night stand by the Drive-By Truckers, tonight and Saturday, at Thalia Hall, 1807 S. Allport Ave. The Dexateens open. Tickets are $26 in advance, $28 at the door. Both shows are part of XRT's annual Holiday Concert for the Kids series, and concertgoers are encouraged to bring a unwrapped new or like-new toys and books to be donated to kids in local hospitals. Doors open at 7pm, show's at 8. All ages.

Cabrini Green doc @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State St., begins a week-long run of Chicago director Ronit Bezalel's new documentary 70 Acres in Chicago: Cabrini Green, a follow-up to her 1999 short film on the Chicago housing project demolished to make way for pricier housing. The director will be in attendance for screenings on Friday and Sunday; see the Film Center's site for a full schedule and advance tickets. Box office: (312) 846-2085.
