Short Hops: Lance Briggs Combines Comics and Christmas
Short Hops is the weekly gathering of excellence found throughout the Chicagocentric sports Internet. Read it while you're waiting for another great podcast from this super cool guy who used to live in Chicago and still reads Tailgate even though he's a Green Bay fan.
- Lance Briggs: Tackler of Men, Reader of Comics, Friend to all Mankind Bears linebacker, Lance Briggs, has been a longtime fan of comics and helping out Chicago's less fortunate, and for this year's "Holiday Blitz" (football pun) Briggs is hosting a comics donation day (with your slightly used books going to CHA and the Armed Forces). (H/T our excellent amigos at the Windy Citizen)
- Wrigley's Field Getting Makeover Following the excitement of last weekend's Illinois-Northwestern tilt at the Friendly Confines, the venerable stadium's infield is getting some new sod and clay in anticipation of the 2011 season. Tailgate refuses to believe that grass will take root in December, but time (and the home opener) will certainly tell. (H/T the Quad City Times)
- The Booze Man Cometh The prized offseason Bulls acquisition is looking to make his 2010-2011 debut Wednesday night in front of the hometown fans at the United Center. The Bulls take on the Orlando Magic and it's Joakim Noah bobblehead doll night, score!
