Rex Grossman is Robin Thicke
Attention all students of Marshall McLuhan: there is a doctoral thesis being written for you in the city of Chicago as we speak.
In 1985, the Bears went to the Super Bowl. They marked this event by recording the Super Bowl Shuffle, which eventually was nominated for a Grammy. (It lost to "Kiss" by Prince).
Fast forward two decades, and the Bears are once again celebrating a trip to the Super Bowl with music. Only this time, instead of the millionaire players recording their own major-label corporate rap masterpiece, it's their fans uploading sincere (and not so sincere) renditions of "Bear Down, Chicago Bears," which dates back to 1941.
Yes, it's like one giant Cory Doctorow wet dream, and I'm of two opinions about it. Either Web 2.0 Community Collaborative Remix Authoring Blah Blah Blah, or (more likely) the fact that we all started crappy ska/punk bands in high school is coming back to bite us in the ass:
Somehow, I knew that would happen.
Oh, about that post title: as a Packers fan, I just want to point out that Rex Grossman is approximately equivalent to Robin Thicke in the new Lil' Wayne track, "Shooter": part of an overall solid effort, but you're always a little uncomfortable because of the amount of trust people are putting in Mr. Seaver's kid and you keep hoping that they'll just replace him. Go Bears!
