Wilco To Debut New Film In Chicago

index.gif

Today must be my lucky day, being able to post two Wilco stories in the same day. Last week, the band debuted the trailer for their new tour documentary, Ashes of American Flags, and now we have a Chicago release date for the movie.

Ashes of American Flags will debut at the Chicago International Movies and Music Festival next month. Monday, March 9 at the famous Music Box Theater. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. and tickets are only $10 on the CIMM website. [Update: Wilco film event ticketing on CIMM site coming soon, we're told. Ticketing is now live.] The director of the film, Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty, will be on hand for a Q&A session following the show, too. Not too shabby, not too shabby at all.

I'm not seeing anywhere on that site where you can buy tickets for this. I see tickets for the rest of the festival, but nothing for the Wilco premiere. Help?

TICKETS - available at www.cimmfest.org!

Look at the CIMM logo in the top left corner - there is a "BUY TICKETS HERE" link right below it.

Scroll down to March 9th and click "CIMMfest Wilco Concert Film Ashes of American Flags"

That wasn't there, before. But even still, as of the time of my writing this, when you do click to buy a ticket, it says "Presale tickets for this event are not available at this time."

Still have to wait, I guess...

She's Money

By Kara Luger

When talking musical influences with Helen Money, it's easy to forget her instrument of choice: cello. She references Bob Mould's Beaster, with its wall of sound and intense, thought-obliterating guitar work. She speaks of The Who and all the crazy rock bands she was exposed to in the '80s. "The stuff I like sounds like life or death," she reasons. And this coming from a woman with a picture of Jimi Hendrix taped to her cello case like he's a saint.
