Club Passport at House of Blues

Yesterday Live Nation announced they will be offering a "club passport" ticket deal, which lets you get into any House of Blues show in Chicago from now until the end of the year for $49.99. Granted, the House of Blues would place somewhere near the bottom on my list of best music venues in the city, but if you can find enough quality shows there in the next few months, this might be worth it (especially considering there will be no added fees on top of the $49.99). A quick look at their concert calendar tells me KMFDM, Revolting Cocks, Taking Back Sunday, Kid Sister, and GWAR all have gigs there before the end of the year.

It absolutely does not get you into any show at the House of Blues. There is a list on the Live Nation site that lists the six shows that the pass can apply to.

And the pass only applies if the show does not sell out. You have to "request" a spot to be granted admission.

To my understanding, they put up a list of shows every Monday and you click on whichever one (or more) you want to go to. New shows are put up every Monday. The list on the site is just the first list. Any show that is not already sold out should be available.

For example, according to the Live Nation IL Twitter, Gwar, Hanson, Ghostface Killah, Brandi Carlile, Mason Jennings and Brett Dennen will all be included. None of these shows are on the first list.

When I was there for the Cult show they were selling Revolting Cocks tickets for 10 bucks. No way a Kid Sister show is worth anywhere near 50 bucks!

Bill: You pay $49.99 for the "passport". Then every show from now until the end of the year is covered under that pass (any show that is not already sold out, that is... and you have to reserve your ticket ahead of time). You don't pay $49.99 for each show.

Pulling Strings: For classical music in Chicago, you got a guy - May 2012

By Elliot Mandel

A raucous band of cellos. A tuba concerto. A double bass concerto. May is Low Register Month (you didn't know?), and the deep-voiced instruments are full of surprises and rare appearances. Plus, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra kicks off its Keys to the City piano festival. If you survive NATO and Mother's Day Brunch, come back for June.
